Ah… Life… it’s a ride!

And I hope we’ll share a part of it this weekend in Central Park!

Keeping an eye on the weather for this coming Saturday, so check back, okay?

But man! I hafta say… I honestly do feel like the luckiest man alive. Today I’m gonna post a series of photos that have been sent into the website… images from our summer so far. But before I get to anything else… let’s share this song!!!

I need YOU to share it all across the country and around the world. Share it on Facebook. Share it on Twitter and Instagram. Share it with your neighbors and friends.

Okay images from the summer so far!!!

Here are a few shots from another weekend.

If YOU have any photos or video from this past Saturday, please shoot them to me on Facebook, okay?

MAYBE WE’LL HAFTA REVIVE THIS SONG FOR THE SUMMER!! Remember… this is the first summer of “The Trump Nightmare”.

OH!!! By the way… I am raising money again for the “Permit Fund”. It’s just something I do every year if you feel like being a part of the gig and helping to take care of some of the overhead involved in getting out to Central Park on Saturdays throughout the summer. All of the permit fees are paid for… the Special Events Permits and the Sound Device Permits from the NYPD. But… if you think you would like to help out in that regard, every year I do a little something called the “Permit Fund”. (It’s only there if you can afford to help and if you feel like it.)

I know. I know. For reasonable, sane people this is another tough week. But we’re in it together and we have work to do. Today I’m gonna share a feel good video from our “Year End Concert” at Merkin Concert Hall here in New York City last December.

First, the concert video…

Today, I find myself sitting on top of 3 incredible Creative projects that seem to be exploding into the world as I’m writing this: the new play “The Green Room” – the video for the song “Dreamers Like Me” – and the Creation of a NEW MUSICAL… which is the off-spring of the workshopped musical “Possibility Junkie”.

Here are a few images from the recent concert, captured by our photographers friends David Hayase and Sean Friedman.

Sincerely, Guys…

THANKS AGAIN!

No kidding. THANK YOU! This is a tough and challenging time for me personally, but it’s a tough time for all of us… nationally. It’s been a tough time for all decent people everywhere. But we did what we do in Central Park this weekend… and the feeling was incredible. Again.

Over the course of the day, I shared music and laughs, stories and thoughts and feelings with… I don’t know… over a thousand sweet people. Really makes me feel like the luckiest man alive. Teresa Reynolds always lights up the park. Our new friend Carole jumped in on a couple of songs written by another Carole.

But really… for me… the star of the day was YOU. Thank you to every single on of you who showed up in person or online in Concert Window. Our photographer friend Sean Friedman was out there in the park again, so I’ll be back with photos, here and on Facebook.

Before I get to anything else… let’s share this song!!!

I need YOU to share it all across the country and around the world. Share it on Facebook. Share it on Twitter and Instagram. Share it with your neighbors and friends.

Thank YOU for showing up. If you’re new around here… WELCOME! If you don’t follow me on Facebook, go there now and then keep checking back.

It’s a big planet, and so…

WE’LL BE IN CENTRAL PARK!

JOIN US IN PERSON OR LIVE ONLINE. (More about that further down the page.)

Hey guys… Harvey made landfall in Texas last night and is dumping massive amounts of rain, but it’s a big planet. I hope everyone is okay down there. But here in New York City… I mean, look out the window! Never mind that! Open the damned window. It’s a perfect day.

It’s looking just a little better than perfect for another “typically amazing” day of music and laughs, thoughts and stories… that “It’s Just Us” feeling. So I’ll be heading out to “The Hill” with my guitar. I’ll start at the usual time — probably crank up around 1:00 and play until 5:30 or 6:00. (Or until I fall over.)

Here’s a map to show you exactly where!

IF YOU’RE NOT IN NYC!

We’ll start streaming LIVE from the park for the rest of the world at 3:00 eastern time. Join us on Concert Window!

Join us if you feel like it. There’s a chat room so you can make requests or just chat with the other people hanging out! All you hafta do is log-in and join us. Go to the Concert Window and set it up right now, okay? (Don’t be spooked by the “credit card” thing. We’ve been doing this for over a year. It’s safe and it really, really does cost you as little or a much as you wanna pay. Whatever you want.)

After last week…

Boy! I needed that!

TODAY!!!

Just come to Central Park…

OR JOIN US LIVE ONLINE. (More about that further down the page.)

It’s a beautiful day here in New York City. Y’know? Way back on Sunday, September 16, 2001… just five days after that terrible event years ago — I went to Central Park with my guitar. I went to Central Park to share my music because… it’s what I do. I’m not a “vigil” or a “rally” kinda guy. I’m not a flag-waver. I just went because my heart told me to go. And I thought I would be essentially alone out there that day. It was a very strange week.

But I started to play and before too long, there might have been a couple of thousand people there with me. No CNN. No NBC. No “news” media. Just us. Thousands of us. We needed to be with each other. We needed to let each other know that we were okay. We need to smile or safely shed a tear in the midst of the madness. It suddenly felt like every single person who had ever hung out on “The Hill” just kinda knew where they wanted to be that day. (If you were there with me that day… you know.) Here are a few photos somebody gave me from that day.

So… TODAY — after the events of this week, after the reprehensible things said by the disgraceful human being in The Oval Office, after watching White Supremacists and Nazis march on an American university, after a week of listening a small percentage of the American citizenry continue to defend or support this disgraceful ugliness and the ignorant little man they elected to “represent” them… I feel we ALL might need to gather again. I know I feel like I need YOU guys. So, I’m heading to Central Park today. (I will NOT sing my song “Donald Trump Scares Me”… and I will not make fun of his hair.) This is not funny. This is a time to heal. To re-group. To be with each other again. We will smile. We will sing together. We will have a good time. And we will heal. Join me, if you can, okay?

I’ll bring the guitar.

Here’s a map to show you exactly where!

Love always Trumps hate…

THANKS again.

For every single one of you who showed up this past weekend. I really needed you guys. More about all that this week. It was a very emotional day.

THANKS!

THE ANTIDOTE: We did it again last Saturday. While hatred and “Trump-ism” were showing their ugly faces in Virginia, we were experiencing the antidote in Central Park. Whether it was young and old, Black, White, Hispanic, Asian… all singing the same songs… dancing together — or turning a rowboat into the drum section — or singing my own songs of social conscience — Teresa singing “We Shall Overcome” because she wanted to and felt it was important. I played songs I wrote and cover songs I love. And we laughed together. We felt feelings together. We loved each other. If you ask me… that’s the antidote.

It was a day I really needed to see every one of your smiling faces. Thank You.

For over 25 years I have been known in this town as “That Guitar Man from Central Park”. It keeps me in a constant state of gratitude. I mean, over the course of the afternoon a few thousand people gathered again on that little grassy hill to share music and laughs, stories and thoughts and feelings… hundreds of New Yorkers, and people from all across the country and different parts of the world were hangin’ out and singing together.

If YOU have any photos or video from this past Saturday, please shoot them to me on Facebook, okay?

https://www.facebook.com/david.thatguitarman

MAYBE WE’LL HAFTA REVIVE THIS SONG FOR THE SUMMER!!!

I know.

I’m still living this Life with open arms and Love, but ZERO tolerance for people who voted for or continue to support the abomination that is Donald J Trump. As the song says, “I hope they feel like joining us someday.” but until that day, the rest of us have work to do!!!

ROCK ON!

We plan on releasing at least 2 different versions of this song..

There’s always lots of really current and fun stuff on FACEBOOK, too. You can send a friend request and join me over there: https://www.facebook.com/david.thatguitarman

Looks like we’re good to…

HEAD TO CENTRAL PARK

Okay… so we’re lookin’ good. It looks like all the rain moved off the coast early, early this morning and we’ll have a sweet day of gentle breezes and high clouds. So let’s head to Central Park. (A little further down the page, I’ll tell you about a new song we can all sing together!!!)

I’ll be heading out to “The Hill” with my guitar about the usual time… probably crank up around 1:00 and play until 5:30 or 6:00. (Or until I fall over.)

Here’s a map to show you exactly where!

THE NEW SONG IS HERE!!!

Hey guys… okay… here we go!!!

The new song is here. But I need YOU to share it all across the country and around the world. Share it on Facebook. Share it on Instagram. Share it with your neighbors and friends.

Join me to sing it in Central Park today!

Got a feeling we’re gonna have another “typically amazing” day. It’s what usually happens. I mean, over the course of an afternoon a few thousand people gather on that little grassy hill to share music and laughs, stories and thoughts and feelings… hundreds of New Yorkers, and people from all across the country and different parts of the world. Often, DANCING BREAKS OUT!!! I mean… dancing spontaneously breaks out on the path, Pure joy. Now, I have been “That Guitar Man from Central Park” for over 25 years now. It’s something that continues to keep me in a nearly constant state of amazement and gratitude.

If YOU have any photos or video from other Saturdays, please shoot them to me on Facebook, okay?

MAYBE WE’LL HAFTA REVIVE THIS SONG FOR THE SUMMER!!!

Remember… this is the first summer of “The Trump Nightmare”.

And thank YOU for showing up here today. If you’re new around here… WELCOME! If you don’t follow me on Facebook, go there now and then keep checking back.
