Tomorrow…

Staying in town?

Okay… we’re gonna hafta keep our eyes on the radar to see what kind of day we’re gonna have tomorrow weather-wise. But I am going to do my best to get out to “The Hill” in Central Park. Check back in the morning, okay? ‘Cause if the weather looks good, I’ll take off my shoes, put my guitar on my shoulder again and see what happens. My best guess is… it will be another typically amazing day. If you’re gonna be here in town I hope I see you out there. I’ll crank up around 1:00 and play until 5:00 or 6:00… or until I fall over.

BUT ON LONG HOLIDAY WEEKENDS I’VE GOT A LITTLE TRADITION… SOMETHING KINDA CRAZY AND SPECIAL. SO TRY TO BE THERE AROUND 3:00!!!

Here’s a map to show you exactly where!

Last Saturday was another one of those days… those days that keep me in a nearly constant state of wonder and gratitude. No kidding. Our photographer friends, Sean Friedman and David Hayase were out there again with their cameras. So today we’ve got a few images they captured.

I mean, over the course of the afternoon a few thousand people gathered again on that little grassy hill to share music and laughs, stories and thoughts and feelings… hundreds of New Yorkers, and people from all across the country and different parts of the world. DANCING BROKE OUT… AGAIN!!! I mean… lots of dancing spontaneously broke out on the path, Pure joy. Now, I have been “That Guitar Man from Central Park” for over 25 years now. It’s something that continues to keep me in a nearly constant state of amazement and gratitude.

If YOU have any photos or video from this past Saturday, please shoot them to me on Facebook, okay?

https://www.facebook.com/david.thatguitarman

OH!!! By the way… I am raising money again for the “Permit Fund”. It’s just something I do every year if you feel like being a part of the gig and helping to take care of some of the overhead involved in getting out to Central Park on Saturdays throughout the summer. All of the permit fees are paid for… the Special Events Permits and the Sound Device Permits from the NYPD. But… if you think you would like to help out in that regard, every year I do a little something called the “Permit Fund”. (It’s only there if you can afford to help and if you feel like it.)

MAYBE WE’LL HAFTA REVIVE THIS SONG FOR THE SUMMER!!!

Remember… this is the first summer of “The Trump Nightmare”.

And thank YOU for showing up here today. If you’re new around here… WELCOME! If you don’t follow me on Facebook, go there now and then keep checking back.

I know. I know. For reasonable, sane people this is another tough week. But we’re in it together and we have work to do. Today I’m gonna share a feel good video from our “Year End Concert” at Merkin Concert Hall here in New York City last December.

First, the concert video…

Today, I find myself sitting on top of 3 incredible Creative projects that seem to be exploding into the world as I’m writing this: the new play “The Green Room” – the video for the song “Dreamers Like Me” – and the Creation of a NEW MUSICAL… which is the off-spring of the workshopped musical “Possibility Junkie”.

Here are a few images from the recent concert, captured by our photographers friends David Hayase and Sean Friedman.

Here are a few moments from earlier in the summer, to hold us over until I can post the new photos from Saturday. (But you get the idea.)

This year, in light of all the insanity in this country, we just might need each other more than ever. If you weren’t there you have NO idea what an incredible outbreak of unleashed joy we experienced! Hundreds of us! Right in the middle of the most amazing city on Earth.

Are you wondering?

The Sun is coming out today!

Maybe we’ll get a slightly later start to let the ground dry a little.

But… YES!

YES! I will head out to “The Hill” in Central Park on Saturday. I’ll take off my shoes, put my guitar on my shoulder again and see what happens. Over the course of an afternoon a few thousand people usually gather on that little grassy hill to share music and laughs, stories and thoughts and feelings… hundreds of New Yorkers, and people from all across the country and different parts of the world. Some hang for 15 minutes, some for 5 hours. And sometimes DANCING BREAKS OUT!!! I mean… lots of dancing spontaneously on the path. Pure joy. Now, I have been “That Guitar Man from Central Park” for over 25 years now. It’s something that continues to keep me in a nearly constant state of amazement and gratitude.

We probably won’t stream LIVE this week.

I’m sorry. It’s strictly a business decision. Last time, only a handful of people showed up online. From a purely monetary perspective, I can’t ask my pal Dean to shoot for 90 minutes for “paper route money”. Ha! Just not worth it. So maybe we’ll save “The Weekly show” for rain-outs and special occasions.

This year, in light of all the insanity in this country, we just might need each other more than ever. If you weren’t there you have NO idea what an incredible outbreak of unleashed joy we experienced! Hundreds of us! Right in the middle of the most amazing city on Earth.

Already thinking about…

NEXT weekend!!!

Instead of hanging out at “The Hill” in the rain this week, a bunch of us showed up online and we did a special edition of “The Weekly Show”. It was very cool. THANKS so much to every single one of you who showed up. We’ll stream LIVE again next Saturday… but hopefully we’ll be streaming LIVE FROM CENTRAL PARK!!!

Last Saturday… we did it again! I mean, over the course of the afternoon a few thousand people gathered again on that little grassy hill to share music and laughs, stories and thoughts and feelings… hundreds of New Yorkers, and people from all across the country and different parts of the world. DANCING BROKE OUT!!! I mean… lots of dancing spontaneously broke out on the path, Pure joy. Teresa came out to share a bunch of songs. WEATHER-PERMITTING, I’ll head out there and get it started around 1:00 Saturday afternoon. And then I’ll play and sing with you guys until 5:00 or 6:00… or until I fall over.

But first I hafta say THANK YOU to every single one of you who showed up this week for our “online” gig… “The Weekly Show”. And I also hafta say… it is amazing to me that we’re sharing music and laughs, doing what we do in the park after a quarter century of weekends. No kidding. Think about all we’ve seen and been through together. This year, we just might need each other more than ever.

Every Saturday afternoon for the past 25 years I have been known in this town as “That Guitar Man from Central Park”. I just head out to a spot by a grassy little hill right near The Lake, I put my guitar on my shoulder… and something amazing happens. I really feel like the luckiest man alive.

AND THEN NEXT WEEKEND we’ll be back together in Central Park.

OH!!! By the way… I am raising money again for the “Permit Fund”. Since that very first day in 1992 when I went out to Central Park with a guitar to make a little extra lunch money, my Life has become a movie… I mean, just a ridiculously unique Life that is truly beyond anything I could have imagined all those years ago. Spring is coming, so I plan to head out there again to share music and laughs, thoughts and stories and feelings with a few hundred thousand of my closest friends and people from all across the country and from different parts of the world.

dreamers-site1

I know. I know. For reasonable, sane people this is another tough week. But we’re in it together and we have work to do. I’m gonna start off today with a feel good video from our “Year End Concert” at Merkin Concert Hall here in New York City a month ago. And then, if you scroll down some more, I’m gonna share the new song which is my personal “Anti-Trump” rallying anthem… “DREAMERS LIKE ME”. And then further down, I’ll share a few more examples of why I feel like the luckiest man alive.

I cut my finger on my fret-hand. Now, it doesn’t look like much. But it’s in precisely one of the worst places it could be for a guitar player.

IF IT HEALS BY TOMORROW I’LL STREAM LIVE FROM MY BRAND NEW STUDIO IN MY NEW APARTMENT.

And thank YOU for showing up here today. If you’re new around here… WELCOME! If you don’t follow me on Facebook, go there now and then keep checking back.

If you’re new around here or you don’t know what any of the means, let me explain.

Every Saturday afternoon for the past 25 years I have been known in this town as “That Guitar Man from Central Park”. I just head out to a spot by a grassy little hill right near The Lake, I put my guitar on my shoulder… and something amazing happens. I really feel like the luckiest man alive.

I know.

HEY… okay… another concert video.

Here are a few images from the recent concert, captured by our photographers friends David Hayase and Sean Friedman.

I’m still living this Life with open arms and Love, but ZERO tolerance for people who voted for or continue to support the abomination that is Donald J Trump. As the song says, “I hope they feel like joining us someday.” but until that day, the rest of us have work to do!!!

ROCK ON!

We plan on releasing at least 2 different versions of this song..

There’s always lots of really current and fun stuff on FACEBOOK, too. You can send a friend request and join me over there: https://www.facebook.com/david.thatguitarman

Cool?

Thanks so much for hangin’ out.

Today… wow.

Honestly, I completely forgot… and had to be reminded this morning.

And last Saturday was another one of those days… those days that keep me in a nearly constant state of wonder and gratitude. No kidding. Our photographer friends, Sean Friedman and David Hayase were out there again with their cameras. So I’ll be back here and on Facebook with captured moments from this Saturday.

Now, I have been “That Guitar Man from Central Park” for over 25 years now. It’s something that continues to keep me in a nearly constant state of amazement and gratitude. And last Saturday was just another “typically amazing” day.

This year, in light of all the insanity in this country, we just might need each other more than ever. If you weren’t there you have NO idea what an incredible outbreak of unleashed joy we experienced! Hundreds of us! Right in the middle of the most amazing city on Earth.

If YOU have any photos or video from this past Saturday, please shoot them to me on Facebook, okay?

Remember… this is the first summer of “The Trump Nightmare”.

It’s come to my attention that a lot of people are visiting this website for the first time, just because of a few other things that are happening in my Creative Life as an artist. So I just wanna welcome you…
