We’ll head back to Central Park…

NEXT weekend!!!

Instead of “Opening Day” this week, a bunch of us showed up online and we did a special edition of “The Weekly Show”. It was very cool. THANKS so much to every single one of you who showed up. We’ll stream LIVE again next Saturday… but hopefully we’ll be streaming LIVE FROM CENTRAL PARK!!!

I HAVE A MONSTER IDEA TO RUN BY YOU GUYS!!!

Cool??

And MAYBE WE’LL HAFTA REVIVE THIS SONG FOR THE SUMMER!!!

First summer of “The Trump Nightmare”

WEATHER-PERMITTING, I’ll head out there and get it started around 1:00 Saturday afternoon. And then I’ll play and sing with you guys until 5:00 or 6:00… or until I fall over.

But first I hafta say THANK YOU to every single one of you who showed up this week for our “online” gig… “The Weekly Show”. And I also hafta say… it is amazing to me that we’re sharing music and laughs, doing what we do in the park after a quarter century of weekends. No kidding. Think about all we’ve seen and been through together. This year, we just might need each other more than ever.

Every Saturday afternoon for the past 25 years I have been known in this town as “That Guitar Man from Central Park”. I just head out to a spot by a grassy little hill right near The Lake, I put my guitar on my shoulder… and something amazing happens. I really feel like the luckiest man alive.

TOMORROW is slated to be “OPENING DAY” for 2017 in Central Park!

OH!!! By the way… I am raising money again for the “Permit Fund”. It’s just something I do every year if you feel like being a part of the gig and helping to take care of some of the overhead involved in getting out to Central Park on Saturdays throughout the summer. All of the permit fees are paid for… the Special Events Permits and the Sound Device Permits from the NYPD. But… if you think you would like to help out in that regard, every year I do a little something called the “Permit Fund”. (It’s only there if you can afford to help and if you feel like it.)

And thank YOU for showing up here today. If you’re new around here… WELCOME! If you don’t follow me on Facebook, go there now and then keep checking back.

It’s come to my attention that a lot of people are visiting this website for the first time, just because of a few other things that are happening in my Creative Life as an artist. So I just wanna welcome you…

I know. I know. For reasonable, sane people this is another tough week. But we’re in it together and we have work to do. Today I’m gonna share a feel good video from our “Year End Concert” at Merkin Concert Hall here in New York City last December.

First, the concert video…

Today, I find myself sitting on top of 3 incredible Creative projects that seem to be exploding into the world as I’m writing this: the new play “The Green Room” – the video for the song “Dreamers Like Me” – and the Creation of a NEW MUSICAL… which is the off-spring of the workshopped musical “Possibility Junkie”.

Here are a few images from the recent concert, captured by our photographers friends David Hayase and Sean Friedman.

I’m still living this Life with open arms and Love, but ZERO tolerance for people who voted for or continue to support the abomination that is Donald J Trump. As the song says, “I hope they feel like joining us someday.” but until that day, the rest of us have work to do!!!

ROCK ON!

We plan on releasing at least 2 different versions of this song..

Going LIVE online today because…

They didn’t issue the permit.

Hey guys. A little drizzle in the morning… and it’s kinda cloudy and cool. Still today would be a day we could definitely enjoy some music and laughs in Central Park. But believe it or not, after the first two weekends being called off because of the weather, this weekend the Parks Department declined to issue our permit.

So let’s hang LIVE today — 3:00  (eastern time)

Join us if you feel like it. There’s a chat room so you can make requests or just chat with the other people hanging out! All you hafta do is log-in and join us. Go to the Concert Window and set it up right now, okay? (Don’t be spooked by the “credit card” thing. We’ve been doing this for over a year. It’s safe and it really, really does cost you as little or a much as you wanna pay. Whatever you want.)

We’ll chat about all the shit that went down this week. I’ll bring the guitar.  I’ll be sharing the newest song… the one I just wrote… the one to rally all like-minded people of reason.

AND THEN NEXT WEEKEND we’ll begin another season together in Central Park.

OH!!! By the way… I am raising money again for the “Permit Fund”. It’s just something I do every year if you feel like being a part of the gig and helping to take care of some of the overhead involved in getting out to Central Park on Saturdays throughout the summer. Every Saturday afternoon for the past 25 years I have been known in this town as “That Guitar Man from Central Park”. I just head out to a spot by a grassy little hill right near The Lake, I put my guitar on my shoulder… and something amazing happens. I really feel like the luckiest man alive.

Since that very first day in 1992 when I went out to Central Park with a guitar to make a little extra lunch money, my Life has become a movie… I mean, just a ridiculously unique Life that is truly beyond anything I could have imagined all those years ago. Spring is coming, so I plan to head out there again to share music and laughs, thoughts and stories and feelings with a few hundred thousand of my closest friends and people from all across the country and from different parts of the world.

I know. I know. For reasonable, sane people this is another tough week. But we’re in it together and we have work to do. I’m gonna start off today with a feel good video from our “Year End Concert” at Merkin Concert Hall here in New York City a month ago. And then, if you scroll down some more, I’m gonna share the new song which is my personal “Anti-Trump” rallying anthem… “DREAMERS LIKE ME”. And then further down, I’ll share a few more examples of why I feel like the luckiest man alive.

First, the concert video…

Not exactly a rain-out…

BUT WE’LL CANCEL “OUTDOORS” TODAY…

AND GO LIVE ONLINE INSTEAD.

I climbed out onto the fire escape to do a Facebook live video and explained that my fingers were freezing in the wind.

Plus, the grass in Central Park has to be saturated after 3″ of rain yesterday and last night. Plus, the forecast is for rain by 4:00.

We’re starting out the year with “one of those days”. I love it when the Sun is shining and a gentle breeze is blowing and soft, white, billowy clouds are floating by. I also don’t mind waking up to the disappointment of a total rain-out, because it simply means I’m meant to do something else that day… and it keeps me Grateful for the beautiful days.

But these days drive me nuts!

SO LET’S GET TOGETHER ONLINE TODAY!!!

We’ll make “Opening Day” next Saturday…. and we’ll talk about it today on “The Weekly Show”. I’ll see you LIVE online today… right here at 3:00 eastern time.

You can join us on Concert Window at 3:00 either way!

WE’LL STILL STREAM LIVE at 3:00 for everybody… but it will be from my warm, dry apartment.

Cool??

I’m still living this Life with open arms and Love, but ZERO tolerance for people who voted for or continue to support the abomination that is Donald J Trump. As the song says, “I hope they feel like joining us someday.” but until that day, the rest of us have work to do!!!

ROCK ON!

We plan on releasing at least 2 different versions of this song..

There’s always lots of really current and fun stuff on FACEBOOK, too. You can send a friend request and join me over there: https://www.facebook.com/david.thatguitarman

Cool?

Thanks so much for hangin’ out.

What d’you think?

Okay… (Maybe) Opening Day

I’m so excited yo be starting another season as “That Guitar Man from Central Park”. Tomorrow is supposed to be “Opening Day”.

But the weather is looking a little shaky. So just make sure you check back here or on Facebook before heading out to “The Hill”

BUT!!!

We’ll stream LIVE either way.

Listen, if I get out to the park… I’ll start playing at around 1:00. And then we’ll just hang out until like 5:00 or 6:00. We’ll start streaming LIVE from the park for the rest of the world at 3:00 eastern time. Join us on Concert Window!

And if we get rain-out tomorrow, WE’LL STILL STREAM LIVE at 3:00 for everybody… but it will be from my dry apartment.

Cool??

MAYBE WE’LL HAFTA REVIVE THIS SONG FOR THE SUMMER!!!

I’M Baaaaack…

Y’know? Opening Day 2017 is gonna be on Saturday, May 6. We’re getting close.

Believe it or not, we’re a little less than a week away from beginning another outdoor season. But THANK YOU to every one of you who showed up LIVE online all winter. THIS SATURDAY we start streaming LIVE from Central Park. Um…. wait… if you’re new around here or you don’t know what any of the means, let me explain.

Saturday, May 6 is gonna be “OPENING DAY” for 2017 in Central Park! (Man! We might need to hang together and share music and laughs more this year than any other year. What d’you think?)

But this weekend we can chat about all the crazy shit that’s going down this week. Y’see… in the off-season, a bunch of us get together LIVE online every Sunday. I’ll be sharing the newest song, the one I just wrote, the one to rally all like-minded people of reason.

OH!!! By the way… I am raising money again for the “Permit Fund”. Today…

YES! Today we stream LIVE from my apartment…

Y’know? It just hit me. Not only is this the last edition of “The Weekly Show” from my apartment here in New York City, it is the last time I will be streaming from this particular location…  forever.

Because next week, we move to Saturday afternoon and begin streaming LIVE from Central Park. And then… I’m moving to another apartment all together.

So let’s hang LIVE today — 5:00  (eastern time)

We’ll chat about all the shit that went down this week. I’ll bring the guitar. Y’see… in the off-season, a bunch of us get together LIVE online every Sunday.
