Were you in the Central Park with us?

Well… THANKS AGAIN!

This was another one of those days… those days that keep me in a nearly constant state of wonder and gratitude. No kidding. Our photographer friends, Sean Friedman and David Hayase were out there again with their cameras. So I’ll be back here and on Facebook with captured moments from this Saturday.

I mean, over the course of the afternoon a few thousand people gathered again on that little grassy hill to share music and laughs, stories and thoughts and feelings… hundreds of New Yorkers, and people from all across the country and different parts of the world. DANCING BROKE OUT!!! I mean… lots of dancing spontaneously broke out on the path, Pure joy. Teresa came out to share a bunch of songs. Now, I have been “That Guitar Man from Central Park” for over 25 years now. It’s something that continues to keep me in a nearly constant state of amazement and gratitude. And last Saturday was just another “typically amazing” day.

This year, in light of all the insanity in this country, we just might need each other more than ever. If you weren’t there you have NO idea what an incredible outbreak of unleashed joy we experienced! Hundreds of us! Right in the middle of the most amazing city on Earth.

If YOU have any photos or video from this past Saturday, please shoot them to me on Facebook, okay?

https://www.facebook.com/david.thatguitarman

OH!!! By the way… I am raising money again for the “Permit Fund”. It’s just something I do every year if you feel like being a part of the gig and helping to take care of some of the overhead involved in getting out to Central Park on Saturdays throughout the summer. All of the permit fees are paid for… the Special Events Permits and the Sound Device Permits from the NYPD. But… if you think you would like to help out in that regard, every year I do a little something called the “Permit Fund”. (It’s only there if you can afford to help and if you feel like it.)

MAYBE WE’LL HAFTA REVIVE THIS SONG FOR THE SUMMER!!!

Remember… this is the first summer of “The Trump Nightmare”.

And thank YOU for showing up here today. If you’re new around here… WELCOME! If you don’t follow me on Facebook, go there now and then keep checking back.

It’s come to my attention that a lot of people are visiting this website for the first time, just because of a few other things that are happening in my Creative Life as an artist. So I just wanna welcome you…

I know. I know. For reasonable, sane people this is another tough week. But we’re in it together and we have work to do. Today I’m gonna share a feel good video from our “Year End Concert” at Merkin Concert Hall here in New York City last December.

First, the concert video…

Today, I find myself sitting on top of 3 incredible Creative projects that seem to be exploding into the world as I’m writing this: the new play “The Green Room” – the video for the song “Dreamers Like Me” – and the Creation of a NEW MUSICAL… which is the off-spring of the workshopped musical “Possibility Junkie”.

Here are a few images from the recent concert, captured by our photographers friends David Hayase and Sean Friedman.

I’m still living this Life with open arms and Love, but ZERO tolerance for people who voted for or continue to support the abomination that is Donald J Trump. As the song says, “I hope they feel like joining us someday.” but until that day, the rest of us have work to do!!!

ROCK ON!

We plan on releasing at least 2 different versions of this song..

Head to Central Park…

TODAY!!!

Hey guys… if you’re gonna be in New York City TODAY I hope you decide to hang out with us in Central Park. I’ll crank up the music around 1:00 and play until 5:00 or 6:00 or until I fall over. Here’s a map to show you exactly where!

We won’t be streaming LIVE today. We probably bring back “The Weekly Show” next weekend (Saturday, June 17) and stream LIVE from uptown.

But if you’re in town, you’re gonna wanna be there today. Last week we sang, we laughed… AND WE DANCED!

This year, in light of all the insanity in this country, we just might need each other more than ever. If you weren’t there you have NO idea what an incredibly cool hang it is! Hundreds of us! Right in the middle of the most amazing city on Earth.

This past Saturday…

THANKS AGAIN!

“Typically Amazing”

That’s what I’ve been saying for a quarter century. I have been “That Guitar Man from Central Park” for over 25 years now. It’s something that continues to keep me in a nearly constant state of amazement and gratitude. And this weekend we started another season… together.

But this weekend — no kidding. Another “typically amazing” day. This year, in light of all the insanity in this country, we just might need each other more than ever. But if you weren’t there you have NO idea what an incredible outbreak of unleashed joy we experienced! Hundreds of us! Right in the middle of the most amazing city on Earth.)

Cool??

MAYBE WE’LL HAFTA REVIVE THIS SONG FOR THE SUMMER!!!

Remember… this is the first summer of “The Trump Nightmare”.

It is amazing to me that we’re sharing music and laughs, doing what we do in the park after a quarter century of weekends. No kidding. Think about all we’ve seen and been through together. This year, we just might need each other more than ever.

Every Saturday afternoon for the past 25 years I have been known in this town as “That Guitar Man from Central Park”. I just head out to a spot by a grassy little hill right near The Lake, I put my guitar on my shoulder… and something amazing happens. I really feel like the luckiest man alive.

There’s always lots of really current and fun stuff on FACEBOOK, too. You can send a friend request and join me over there: https://www.facebook.com/david.thatguitarman

Cool?

Thanks so much for hangin’ out.

It’s looking good!

THIS SATURDAY — “OPENING DAY”!

Who feels like the luckiest man alive?

I do. No kidding.

After a wet start to the new season, it looks like we’re gonna get out to Central Park to begin another season of music and laughs, stories and thoughts and feelings… ON SATURDAY!

Exciting times. A real adventure. This year I’ve been making the transition from singer/songwriter to playwright… but I have at least one more amazing summer in me when I’ll get to put a guitar on my shoulder and share music with several thousand of my closest friends. If you’re anywhere near New York City I hope you feel like heading out there on Saturday to join me.

WEATHER-PERMITTING, I’ll head out there and get it started around 1:00 Saturday afternoon. And then I’ll play and sing with you guys until 5:00 or 6:00… or until I fall over. If you live in a different part of the country or a different part of the world, scroll down the page a little. We’ll be streaming LIVE starting at 3:00 (eastern time).
