WHY SID BERNSTEIN IN THE ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME?
Well for starters:
- He arranged to bring The Beatles to America - when the Fab Four were virtual unknowns this side of the Atlantic,
before they even released a record in the States,
or had any radio airplay
- Put The Beatles in Carnegie Hall (something about why this is important)
- Produced The Beatles ground-breaking concert in Shea Stadium - the first rock concert at a sports arena which established the precedent of attracting huge crowds to large venues and set the standard for all future concerts
- Helped convince Ed Sullivan to have The Beatles on his show - introducing them to the whole country
And if that wasn't enough:
- Managed The (Young) Rascals (something more).
- As part of the British Invasion,
promoted The Animals at the Paramount and The Kinks,
Herman's Hermits,
the Moody Blues and Gerry and the Pacemakers at the Academy of Music.
- Produced the first concert ever at the new Madison Square Garden,
featuring Joan Baez.
- Producer and promoter of Jethro Tull at Radio City Music Hall,
helping to establish it as a rock venue.
- Produced the Bethel '94 Festival for the 25th Anniversary of Woodstock,
featuring,
among many others,
Country Joe & the Fish,
Santana,
