1. Tired of Being Lied To
Music and Lyrics by David Ippolito
I am so damn tired of being lied to.
I don't think I can deny it anymore.
You can stick to your story if you think it... flies
But, I'm not gonna buy it... anymore
When I was just a kid they told me God would judge me, day and night.
The religion I was born in was the only way to heaven's light.
You follow that, as far as I can tell,
That means that most of us are goin' to hell.
The odds are better everybody's wrong than everybody's right.
[CHORUS]
I remember growin' up like a broken water main.
Once I got caught in an awkward moment my folks went insane.
My father said, "You better keep this in mind.
You keep that up, Son, and you're gonna go blind"
But if he wasn't lyin' I'd be walkin' with a long white cane!
[CHORUS]
We're surrounded, now, by liars comin' at us through our TV screens,
They're content to fight in black and white despite the many in-betweens.
We've got a President who plays with the facts,
And, then he waves the flag to cover his tracks,
As if a lie is all right if the end'll justify the means,
Now we are so damned tired of being lied to.
We don't think we can deny it anymore.
You can stick to your story if you think it... flies.
But, we're not keepin' quiet... anymore.
