...In Person
In Person
Music and Lyrics by David Ippolito
I've spent too many days and too many nights
Watchin' other people step out into the lights.
I was always afraid of jumpin' up on the stage.
But, everybody's got a story so I'm turnin' the page.
And starting now, I'm "appearing in-person"
'Cause you can sit there in the dark or have a part in the play.
Won't stay behind runnin' lines and rehearsin'
'Cause there's a curtain goin' up everyday.
A woman I know, whose life has finally begun
Used to waste all her time tryin' to please everyone.
When the weight got too great she put it all on the shelf,
And now this lovin' leading lady's livin' true to herself.
'Cause startin' now, she's "appearing in-person"
She changed the role that she was sold and now she's lovin' the play.
Nobody shines runnin' lines and rehearsin'
When there's a curtain goin' up everyday.
A good friend of mine does his lovin' differently
But, deep down inside he's just exactly like me.
We just live and let live and when we meet in between
Nothin' ever comes up, if you know what I mean.
The other day we're walkin', I see tears in his eyes
And by the way that he's talkin', I begin to surmise
He's still livin' in the dark with his whole family.
I said, "Why not, hit that spotlight and let 'em all see.
That starting now, you're "appearing in-person"
'Cause everybody's got to have a different part in the play.
Nobody shines runnin' lines and rehearsin'
When there's a curtain goin' up everyday.
(Repeat and fade)
