Welcome to the website.

Wanna say "Hi" to all of you checking in from different parts of the country and different parts of the world.

Here in The Big Apple, kinda cold these days... but still no real snow to speak of. Maybe a little today and tonight. We'll see.

Got a lot of great things comin' up though. Well, me personally... in about 3 weeks I'll be leaving to do a one-week gig in the Caribbean. For the past 8 years I've done this gig for the same group of beautiful people, and I always look forward to it. Some years it's in Ixtapa, Mexico. One year it was on the island of Guadeloupe. This year, back to The Turks and Caicos Islands. It comes at just the right time of year for me. and I always come back with an amazing sense of Serenity and autonomy. Tough to explain.

And then I'll be ready to get to work on 2 amazing projects... preceded by a very special concert on March 3rd here in New York City. (More about that a little further down the page.)

Before I tell you about those projects, I need to take moment to say something about this election year.

THE RACE FOR THE REPUBLICAN NOMINATION

I know a few decent people who call themselves Republicans.

(Me? I'm a registered Independent and have been my entire Life.)

But as a man of Reason, I pay attention and feel it's actually part of my job description to make a percentage of my work and music about social conscience and political commentary. So, I monitor all of the so-called "news" networks, and last night I watched most of the 752nd Republican debate on CNN.

I had to get out my pencil!

Now, I'm always talking about Love being the antidote to fear -- Reason being the antidote to ignorance, supposition and blind ideology. I have so very little fear in my life these days, and so much Love. (So ironic listening to the most self-professed "religious" people in the country speaking... they are the ones who are the biggest cowards when it comes to everything from terrorism to personal wealth to life in general. And they tend to be the least compassionate and kind.) After watching those men on that stage last night, and after listening to the repeated reactions from that incredibly white, South Carolinian audience to their outrageously hypocritical, baseless, feasr-driven, narrow-minded and inherently unAmerican statements... gotta tell you.

Okay, it's a little scary. Even for me.

I didn't see or hear one shred of genuine decency on that stage. Not one.

To me, while President Obama has been a disappointment in regard to many of the principled stands I had hoped he would take, I decided last night that not only would I not want to live in the country each of those Republican candidates describe... I'm actually relieved I don't live in the same fucking reality as those people. That's why I'm making this song available as the FREE download for today. Download it for FREE and pass it on for free to whomever you like... no copyright bullshit. Just give it away, okay?

Then, email me and let me know how you feel about this election year so far. Let me know if you agree with what I just wrote, or more importantly, let me know if you disagree. I would love to hear a "Reasoned" defense if the ideology and the world these candidates espouse. If somebody comes with an argument that contains an inkling of sense or Truth, I promise I will post that comment here on this website.

Moving onto the Fun!

The new webseries being produced by my pal, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Dean Love is about to become a reality. It' gonna be a kind of musical, variety, comedy, edgy, irreverend, fun, interactive gig about artists who are living their lives and making art in New York City. Y'know? The place that is referred to in the song about New York made famous by Sinatra... in the line that goes, "If I can, make it...

He's in the process right now of booking a theater on the Upper West side of Manhattan to shoot 2 pilot episodes. There will be a studio audience as we go LIVE to tape for the pilots, and admission will be FREE. Keep checking back and I'll get you the details about how YOU can be in the audience for this new show. It's gonna be a blast.

NOW -- THAT NEXT GIG COMIN' UP?...

There are some really fun videos from our last concert at Merkin Concert Hall a little further down the page. And hopefully, I'll have some new video this week. But I hafta tell you about our next night together first.

Y'know? I have one criteria for whether a concert is a success in my heart.

If after a night like the one we had in December, I can get quiet with myself and ask, "Even when there's someone who kinda got dragged to the thing, even when there's someone in the audience who dislikes folk/rock and loves opera, even if there's someone who's social world view are diametrically opposed to mine... if at the end of the night I can feel that every single person in that room was glad they were there -- then the night is a success."

And I felt like that at the last gig.

.

The next gig... I'm gonna hang with you guys for an intimate night of songs and storytelling and laughs. We'll just see where it goes. I think I'll play a whole bunch of songs I haven't played in a long time and a few brand new songs nobody's ever heard before.

Saturday Night, March 3
7:30

The Leonard Nimoy Thalia

Broadway @ 95th Street

.

.

We all know what "general admission" means when we're talkin' about a concert. It means the box office just sells unassigned seats. You buy a ticket and that means you're gonna get in the theater. Where you sit depends on when you get there. No big deal.

But general admission is rrreeeeaaallllyyy not a big deal in a sweet little venue like The Leonard Nimoy Thalia. If you've ever been to one of my gigs in that venue, you know what I'm talkin' about. It's a really intimate little theater space. There literally is not a bad seat in the house.

.

.

I'm already lookin' forward to it.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
