Hey! Been a little while since my last update.

Welcome to the website.

.

Getting a bunch of emails from people wondering what's up with the lack of updates this weekend. Been experiencing a little writer's block... not regarding the website. I mean, that's not really "writing". So maybe it's a little more than "writer's block". Maybe it's a general Creative block. I've been trying to write a song for a specific reason, but every time I put the guitar in my lap... nuthin'. I mean... nuthin'. So maybe it's a little funk, a little drought.

Droughts happen.

They can be unsettling. They feel uncomfortable for an artist. They can be a little scary. But, they're necessary I guess. They must be necessary for some mysterious reason or we wouldn't go through them. And sometimes they feel like they're never gonna end.

But they do.

Oh listen, before I go any further I wanna share this video which was sent to me from the artist who did that fun "Happy New Year Video" at the end of 2011... Rhe Deville. She emailed this to me and it made me smile so I thought I'd pass it on. I know a little something about playing outdoors. I've had my share of bee stings during a love song. And I've probably swallowed more than my share of bugs over 20 years! And I've had a half dozen butterflies land on the neck on my guitar and strap during a song. But this one hasn't come my way... yet. Be patient. It's a fun little bluegrass tune and the banjo and guitar work are smokin'. But...

...get to the 1:30 mark.

HEY LISTEN!

If you wanna grab tickets for the next "indoor" gig, they are on sale already. If you call the box office or stop by The Leonard Nimoy Thalia on Broadway @ 95th Street you can reserve seats this week. Or you can get them online. I wanted this gig to be a whole lot more intimate than the big YEAR END concert. There are only 150 seats in The Thalia so if you're thinkin' about calling a few friends and makin' a fun night of it, you might wanna do that before the gig gets closer.

Gonna be cool. I'm gonna stop by the box office later this week to see how the tickets sales are going. So, I'll let you guys know.

Why such a small venue?

There's a good reason for that. This gig is gonna be a bit different than anything I've done in a in a long while. This is gonna be a completely solo, acoustic night of songs and stories. I'm gonna hang with you guys for an intimate theater and we'll just see where it goes. I think I'll play a whole bunch of songs I haven't played in a long time, and a few brand new songs nobody's ever heard before.

Y'know... I mention Dean Love a lot in these updates. He's producing a webseries which will be a kind of edgy, hip, variety show, talk show kinda thing called...

...and he's asked me to host it. The studio audience will get to watch the shoot for FREE. So I'll let you know when the dates for all of that are set. (It's lookin' like mid-March.) Then we'll figure out a way that YOU can reserve a spot in the studio audience. It's gonna be fun.

There are always a handful of newcomers checking in for various reasons here in NYC or from across the country and different parts of the world... whether it's because of YouTube, or Facebook, or one of the projects we're workin' on... or because they've spent an afternoon with us out in Central Park when the weather is warm.

For newcomers, here's a little Photo Gallery from this past Summer. Very cool. Maybe you're in there!

I wanna try to get a few more moments from the December concert edited down to be ready for you guys to watch on Youtube and here at the site. Maybe this week I can work on the audio tracks and we'll have 'em here at the site. Some really fun shit. So keep checking back.

Here are a few we've already completed.

Besides the gig in the first week of March, we've got sooooo many really cool ideas and plans for 2012. Like this one possibility as explained by Broadway legend Tony Walton and his wife.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
