A re-broadcast of the LIVE stream from last weekend's concert is further down the page today.
Just kinda re-capping the year. And between now and the end of 2011, I'll be letting you guys know about the next chance we'll all have to get together for another night of music and laughs.
Last Saturday night was just an amazing time in Merkin Concert Hall. It really was! If you were there, you know what I mean. If you watched it online in another part of the country or another part of the world, I hope you plan on being here in NYC next year to join us in person. I'm working on the audio tracks this weekend, and my pal, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Dean Love, who shot the thing is working on some video. We're hoping to have some for you guys to share here very soon.
Listen... thanks again for a memory last Saturday that I will keep in my heart for the rest of my Life. It turned into one of those Golden nights... for a completely unexpected reason!
.
And thanks for a great "outdoor season" in Central Park!

Just another f*ckin' amazing year!
Seriously, I'm the luckiest man alive. Damn! I love my life and my work. I work with the some of the best people and the most generous, selfless, talented, beautiful artists on the planet.
But besides that, there is a woman who never wants to be called out on the great support she gives to the arts.... and in particular, my work.
One of the many reasons I call her "friend" is that she truly understands a concept I talk about and put in my work -- the concept of doing something Good for someone or something... and not getting caught! She doesn't pay that lip service. She lives it. For that reason, I'm not even gonna use her last name. For the past few years behind the scenes and with no fanfare, Kara has made things happen. Now, for the past 15 years I've done a "Year End" concert at places like Merkin Concert Hall in The Kaufman Center. Y'know? I was lucky enough to have parents who never discouraged my Life as an artist and a man I call Pop who is probably more excited by the things I do than I am. My family has always supported my work. Years ago, there was another guy named David who jump-started the first CDs. Then there was Jim who jumped in, talked me into it and got these "indoor" concerts going. My pal James is another one. He hosts this very website on his own. My new pal Dean has as much belief in the things we say and do around here as anybody, and backs it up with his own artistry and professionalism. Besides the amazing artists you actually get to see on stage with me, so many friends and colleagues lend their time and effort to my work... it's mind boggling and fills me with overwhelming and indescribable gratitude every day.
But one of the wonderful people behind the production on the last few gigs is this woman, Kara. I have not known another person with a more generous and committed spirit. It makes my work easier and better. It allows me to say the things I need to say to the world and do the work I know in my heart I'm meant to be doing.
When people like this share their hearts and Spirits with me, it makes it possible for me to do the kind of work I need to do...
Okay listen, I've got 8 albums recorded and they all keep getting out there, all over the world. But I know I'm overdue for a new collection of music.... a new CD. The inspirations keep coming. New songs have been written. The Purpose is genuine and constant. Those things never run out. The work is exciting and fulfilling. The passion runs deep. But as is usually the case with an independent artist, it comes down to 2 challenges... time and money. So among other things, I'm gonna talk to my friend and colleague, George Wurzbach, about the simplest and best way to go about producing some of this new music for you guys.
ALSO -- yesterday Dean Love and I went down to scout a theater for the pilot episodes of "THERE": The webseries that will feature artists who are making a life in the arts here -- in New York City!!! (Turns out we might do it in the same place I'd like to do my next solo, acoustic concert. But it's Dean's project, so it's really up to him.I'll keep you posted.)
.
As for my next concert...
What do you think? You guys up for a solo, intimate, acoustic night of storytelling, music and laughs? I think a Saturday night... cool?
Saturday Night, March 3 At the Leonard Nimoy Thalia on Broadway @ West 95th Street
That works for me! If enough of you say you'll show up with some friends, I'll go ahead and set it up and let you know when tickets will become available.
.
And I wanna speak with another new friend about getting the right people involved with the Broadway idea that Tony Walton and his wife spoke of in this video.

So in a nutshell... there's a LOT going on for 2012. A lot of dreams. A lot of hopes. A lot of fun. A lot of work.
Y'know? This was year #20 that I've been known as "That Guitar Man from Central Park". As the result of sharing all those typically amazing afternoons of music an laughs in the middle of the greatest city in the world, I've become aware that there are always a lot of you checking in from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. For newcomers, here's a little Photo Gallery from this past Summer. Very cool. Maybe you're in there! (It's still growing!)
As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
