GOT SOMETHING A LITTLE INTERESTING FROM A CLASSIC FILM TODAY! (Further down the page.)
BUT FIRST -- wanna say a big "HI" to everyone who's checking in from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. It's one of the really cool things about dong what I do for a living. I look at the stats here at the site and it's clear that a whole bunch of you who have visited New York City keep checking in here. The world is becoming a very small campus...
...and that's a good thing.
I wanna say "THANKS AGAIN" to every single person who showed up for even one afternoon of music and laughs in Central Park this year. We had another amazing "outdoor" season in 2011.
For newcomers, here's a little Photo Gallery from this past Summer. Very cool. Maybe you're in there! (It's still growing!)
.
I'm a very lucky man, and I never forget that!

Click for a moment from a previous gig.
TICKETS
There isn't a bad seat in Merkin Concert Hall. I'm serious, the guys in the balcony have as much fun as the people in the orchestra. It's always a really fun crowd up there. And this beautiful venue is really designed for orchestral stuff, so it's really very intimate. The balcony is very close to the stage... like, the first row of the balcony is at Row H in the orchestra.
So go ahead an order tickets online or wait until the box office is open tomorrow to speak directly to either Biz or Shayla or Michael.
Or get 'em online right now!

I have a couple of really fun ideas about this gig. One of them has to do with the BIG cover song we do every year. I think you guys are gonna love this. I think we're gonna create a good musical memory.
This is the time of year when someone will air one of the ONLY 3 versions of Charles Dicken's classic novel "A Christmas Carol" worth watching. (Forget Patrick Stewart, Reginald Owen and George C. Scott and all the rest.)
For my money, These are the only 3 that count! The Leslie Bricusse musical film with Albert Finney was well-done and fun. That was simply called "SCROOGE". And the updated comedy version with Bill Murray called "Scrooged" was a blast.
But the ONLY definitive, straight, dramatic version of this story starred Alastair Sim as Ebenezer Scrooge. It was just a brilliant, brilliant piece of film-making and an even more brilliant performance. Still... about 25 years ago I noticed something.
I had seen this film a million times in my life through all my years growing up. Then one night around Christmas time a whole lotta years ago (And I can tell you this is a long, lonnnggg time ago... because as most of you know, I haven't had a drink in over 20 years.) ...I came home after a night of partying. I was blind drunk about 4:00 in the morning. I hit the refrigerator for a cold chicken leg before crashing and turned on a little 10" black and white television, and was delighted to see that this movie was on. so i'm sittin' there watchin' this movie, chompin' on a chicken leg and...
...after a few minutes, in my drunken haze, I thought I saw something on the screen. I kinda put a hand over one eye, and stared at the TV screen not really believing what I was seeing.
Yep!
Checkout the video I posted here today. Then at 3:08 look in the mirror.
Seriously... it wasn't until I was wasted at 4:00am that I saw this!!!!
Click to watch and pay attention at 3:08

Some bonehead-stage-hand or some guest on the set pokes his head out from around a piece of scenery. It looks like he almost realizes that this is a bad idea and backs off a little, but stays in the line of sight through the mirror. I'm guessing the scene was such a "keeper" that they had to hope nobody would see it. (Either that, or no one ever noticed it before it went to final print.)Alastair Sim is so dead-on in this scene that I'm sure they would never get another take quite like it. When Scrooge returns to the mirror at 3:57... yeah, this guy is still there watching the scene.
Funny... never saw that until I was absolutely hammered!
.
Okay, moving on!
Click for full-size image Gonna have a blast at Kaufman Center again!
GO AHEAD AND GET TICKETS ONLINE TODAY OR CALL THE BOX OFFICE TOMORROW! (There are still about 100 tickets left in the orchestra! But they're starting to move.)
.
NOW -- here's a song I'm gonna debut with the bad at the gig on December 10th. And once again, I wanna ask you guys to keep this video moving around the planet. (It is intended to help counter the distorted and often purposely skewed image of the "Occupy Wall Street" movement by much of the "news" media. You can help by turning all your friends onto this video.)
THE NEWEST SONG AND VIDEO!

Y'know? This was year #20 that I've been known as "That Guitar Man from Central Park". As the result of sharing all those typically amazing afternoons of music an laughs in the middle of the greatest city in the world, I've become aware that there are always a lot of you checking in from different parts of the country and different parts of the world.
As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
