And if you were here in town and you were with us in Merkin Concert Hall last week, I hope me and the band gave you a few fun memories and laughs to hold onto for a while.
.
We had a great time! I'm gonna be posting brand new video from that gig here as soon as we work out a few little technical glitches. (You kids and your gadgets!) In the meantime, I was thinkin'...
Here we are in what I like to call the "When Harry Met Sally Time of Year". I love the romance around this season. I love Central Park in the snow, I love Santa Claus. I love the music and the lights. Some people wonder why I don't make "The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" more of a Christmas concert.
Because I'm the guy who wrote The Religion Song!
Why would I take all the time and spend all the Creative energy to write something like "The Religion Song"? This poll that came out around this time last year that might give you a clue!!!!!
.
I don't even know what to say!?
Okay, okay...I actually almost expect that more than half of the people who call themselves Republicans these days. It's not the Republican Party I knew when I was a kid. I don't know what to call these people. I mean, look at who they're running for president!!!

But I'd kind of expect that they might think that human beings just appeared on the planet in their present form less than 10,000 years ago. I expect that because of the way their minds seem to process other issues... like blind patriotism, torture, rule of law, the death penalty, gay rights and so many more. (And if they watch FOX News, they've actually begun to live in a completely alternate reality!)
But the numbers which show that more than 3 out of 10 Independents and Democrats think the same thing astound me.
Now okay, The Bible -- I can let the authors of that funny, completely disjointed, convoluted and contradictory collection of legend, crime stories, war stories, superstition, impossibly bad morality and impossibly good morality off the hook... whoever they were! I mean, when the Bible was written human beings had no concept of science, space, the Universe... there was no carbon dating. They had no idea that the earth was round, that planets orbited the Sun, that there were countless galaxies of other suns or that illness wasn't actually caused by tiny elves or demons inside you.
But for cryin' out loud, we're 12 years into the 21st century in the most technologically advanced nation on earth!!!!! How can we be marching so proudly backwards into the days before The Enlightenment!?
(sigh)

.
Ha!
F*ck it! I'm just gonna make the song a FREE download today. And then I'll be back with the concert video as soon as we get it ready!
And as always, thanks to every single one of you who shared even one afternoon with me in Central Park this year... and all of you in different parts of the country and different parts of the world who show up here every day! But to the people in Central Park and the people who hung with me during those sunset concerts downtown... THANK YOU!

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
