Y'know? This was year #20 that I've been known as "That Guitar Man from Central Park". As the result of sharing all those typically amazing afternoons of music an laughs in the middle of the greatest city in the world, I've become aware that there are always a lot of you checking in from different parts of the country and different parts of the world.
For newcomers, here's a little Photo Gallery from this past Summer. Very cool. Maybe you're in there! (It's still growing!)
Okay, I'm start out today's update a little backward today.
Because...
"The SOMETHING'TH ANNUAL YEAR END CONCERT"
.
... is only 4 weeks away from last night!!!
So, call a few friends and call the box office today. (Yes, they're open on Sunday.)
212-501-3330
Talk to Biz or Shayla in the box office. They're great!!!
We laugh as much as we sing at these things! And we have a whole bunch of new songs and a few surprises this year. We'll also be singing a bunch of your favorites from Central Park. Right now, there are plenty of good seats left. There are 500 seats in Merkin Concert Hall and there isn't a bad seat in the house. If you've ever been there you know... even the balcony is right on top of the stage so it's a very intimate venue. It's still early, but as of today there are about 275 seats left.
Now that we're into November, tickets start flying.
Listen... the December concert is NEVER overtly political. Anyone who's been to one knows that. We just laugh and sing, and make jokes about what's gone on in the past year. B I always say, "It's a good way to kick the year in the ass as it heads out the door." But I had a thought yesterday about the 257 Republican debates we've been seeing in the past few weeks and, if you're interested, you can check it out here and then email me your thoughts and comments.
Okay, and a lot of people were emailing and sending comments about this CNN story from "Occupy Wall Street". So, I'll post it again today. (Guess you gotta watch the whole clip. It wasn;t the most important point I was trying to make that day down there, but at least they got this part.)
.
Y'know?
EVEN THOUGH I ACTUALLY LOATHE POLITICS... I HAFTA RE-POST THE NEW VIDEO WE SHOT TO COUNTER THE PURPOSELY SKEWED PORTRAYAL IN THE AMERICAN "NEWS" MEDIA OF THE GOOD PEOPLE OF LIBERTY PLAZA.
(I'd much rather be laughing and singing about other stuff!
.
OKAY -- so once again, I wanna ask you guys to keep this video moving around the planet. (It is intended to help counter the distorted and often purposely skewed image of the "Occupy Wall Street" movement by much of the "news" media. You can help by turning all your friends onto this video.)
THE NEWEST SONG AND VIDEO!
.
How does an idea or a feeling make it all the way around the planet in one week or one day?
YOU!
Dat's how!
Send this video to everyone you know. Send it to people you don't know! Post it to your Facebook pages. Email it to Congress. Send it everywhere!
As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
