I don't know. But whatever it is, me and my guitar want to help.
What's next? I honestly don't know. But it doesn't stop here. In fact, this development is ultimately going to be a good thing. Politics is ultimately downstream from culture and not the other way around. So it's time that a Good wind started to blow against the backs of the ineffectual, self-interested politicians we've elected on both sides of the aisle. What's next?
We'll see. But I will show up.
(The music video I made with my pal Dean is further down this page.)
Working from a place of Creativity, Gratitude, Wonder, Fun and Passion is amazing.
Yeah, I sound like the inside of a Snapple cap or a fortune cookie. But I don't give a shit. It's all true!
.
Y'know? I am a "walking contradiction" in many ways. I mean, I don't feel life is always meant to be graceful. It's sometimes messy. I've got a dark side I accept, but I embrace the Light. I love getting in the sandbox with the other kids and getting messy. I kinda feel like Woody Allen, who was once asked, "Do you think sex is dirty?"
And he replied, "Well, yeah... if you're doin' it right."
All I'm trying to say is that Life is not a problem to be solved, but rather a mystery to be lived. I'm just lucky that I get to put music if the journey into songs and then share them with you guys.
I mean it. Gotta tell you... yesterday I was back in the studio with George, Nelson and Ryan. These are all really great guys and we laugh as much as we make music. It's just really good seeing them all in the same room again. And the feeling that we're working toward making another night of memories is something special to feel. Just breaking the ice on another concert experience is wonderful enough. But knowing that we'll soon be joined on this little journey and on stage again by Chris Tedesco, Dave Marcus and the amazing Teresa Reynolds... well, it's a feeling I hope everyone gets to feel in whatever work they do for a living.
Me? I write songs and I sing them for people. There are so many finer guitar players than me in this world. There are so many fine songwriters... some of them will be on stage with me that night. Goodness knows there are better singers... many of them will be on stage, too! But these wonderful people all look forward to this gig every year because the feeling in that theater really and truly is something special. If you've been to these concerts, you know what I'm talkin' about. If you've never been to one... ask someone who has. (Or just take my word for it.) It's a lot of work to get these things on. But it's so worth it.
I just wish there was a way we could have... y'know... fun... doing what we do!

Welcome to all of you who are checking in here from across the country and in different parts of the world. Here in New York City we're gearing up for that yearly tradition...
"The Something'th Annual Year End Concert"
.
No kiddin' around... if you haven't gotten tickets yet, call a few friends this week and then call the box office. Or get them online. Either way. There honestly isn't a bad seat in that concert hall. Some of the best seats in the theater are actually in the balcony, because that balcony is right on top of the stage. It's a very intimate venue for a 500-seat house. It really is.
I have a couple of really fun ideas about this gig. One of them has to do with the BIG cover song we do every year. I think you guys are gonna love this. I think we're gonna create a good musical memory.
Right now, there are plenty of good seats left. As of today there are about 250 seats left. So, call a few friends. Make a night of it. And then grab tickets sooner than later. It's a yearly tradition called.
.
You can get tickets online right now by hitting the banner below. But the box office is open today! You can call them directly...
212-501-3330
...and talk to Biz or Shayla. They're great!!!
We laugh as much as we sing at these things! And we have a whole bunch of new songs and a few surprises this year. We'll also be singing a bunch of your favorites from Central Park.
It's less than 4 weeks away. And now that we're into November, tickets start flying.
NOW -- here's a song I'm gonna debut with the bad at the gig on December 10th. And once again, I wanna ask you guys to keep this video moving around the planet. (It is intended to help counter the distorted and often purposely skewed image of the "Occupy Wall Street" movement by much of the "news" media. You can help by turning all your friends onto this video.)
THE NEWEST SONG AND VIDEO!
.
How does an idea or a feeling make it all the way around the planet in one week or one day?
YOU!
Dat's how!
Send this video to everyone you know. Send it to people you don't know! Post it to your Facebook pages. Email it to Congress. Send it everywhere!
I wanna say thank again to every single one of you who spent even one afternoon with me in Central Park this past year.... or ever! You make me feel like the luckiest man alive.

Y'know? This was year #20 that I've been known as "That Guitar Man from Central Park". As the result of sharing all those typically amazing afternoons of music an laughs in the middle of the greatest city in the world, I've become aware that there are always a lot of you checking in from different parts of the country and different parts of the world.
For newcomers, here's a little Photo Gallery from this past Summer. Very cool. Maybe you're in there! (It's still growing!)
As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
