Oh man! This year's concert on December 10th is gonna be a blast! I'm in the rehearsal studio today with the guys and with Teresa... and we're having sooooooo much fun! Seriously. We're gonna play a whole lotta the songs you guys love, and we have a whole bunch of new songs... and a couple of surprises. (More about that in a minute.)
I'VE GOT A COUPLE OF THINGS I NEED TO SAY
FROM THE HEART TODAY.
.
FIRST -- as always, thanks for another typically amazing year.
20 years... I've been "That Guitar Man from Central Park". And entire generation, for cryin' out loud.
THANK YOU TO EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU... YOU'VE GIVEN ME SO MANY SMILES!
Very cool. Here's a Photo Gallery from this season. Maybe you're in there! (It's still growing!)
You can get them here today online. Or you can call the box office. The tickets are starting to fly. So you might wanna call a few friends and get them together to make a night of the whole thing. It's less than 3 weeks away and this one is gonna be something really special. We've got some really fun shit planned for this one, and as always we'll also be making it up as we go along.

FROM THE HEART
I just wanted to take this update to say something from my heart.
I am soooooo looking forward to the concert on December 10th. Y'know? I'm so lucky to have gotten to be "That Guitar Man from Central Park" for the past 20 years. I guess I can kinda make this next gig a kind of a celebration of that fact. But the past 20 years are gone. The past 20 days are gone. Hell... the last 20 minutes are gone.
We have this moment. We have today.
I have gotten so much Joy writing songs and sharing them with all of you. I hope I get to write many, many more songs and play music in this world for a long, long time. The best news is that we all have "right now". We don't hafta postpone Joy. We don't hafta put off having fun and doing the things we love! It's a choice. This week I'm getting together with an amazingly wonderful group of artists to take a run at some brand new songs and a bunch of the songs you guys all love already... and then, just as we do every December, we'll share a concert hall filled with fun-loving, smiling, beautiful people in just a little less than 3 weeks. That makes me such a lucky man.
This weekend, I was having a conversation with my friend and colleague, fellow songwriter George Wurzbach, and at one point he said, "We're so lucky that while so many people are busy making a living so they can do what the things they love -- we're doing what we love, so at the same time we're making a living we're also making a different kinda Life."
Before I went to sleep that night I started thinking about all the Joy I've gotten from you guys. I started to get a little overwhelmed by the thought of all the Joy I've gotten from a piece of wood strung with silver wire. I began to feel overwhelmed with gratitude from all the Joy I've gotten from making music. And then, out of the blue... an old interview and a scene from a movie popped into my consciousness.
You all remember Dudley Moore, the wonderfully brilliant comedian and actor who gave us characters like Arthur and George Webber in the Blake Edwards film "10".
Well, I was speaking just the other day with another pal, Dean Love, about incredible musical moments from film, and there was a moment in the movie "10" in which Dudley's character George Webber is playing a new song he's just written out of pure longing and emotion. It's just a scene in a movie, but it's a moment captured on film in which the song and the artist truly become one... where there's no space between the man and the music and the piano.

And then I thought about a moment in an interview I saw after Moore was diagnosed with a debilitating and ultimately fatal disease called PSP. It's a terminal degenerative brain disorder called "progressive supranuclear palsy", which attacks the brain and eventually renders someone immobile. The early onslaught of symptoms robbed him of his ability to play the piano. This part of the interview moved and affected me so deeply... this moment is always in my heart. And it helps keep me in a place of indescribable gratitude for the gift of music.

Hey guys! Wherever you find your Joy.... live it. Wherever you find your desire and passion.... go after it. Embrace it. Live it right now.
Laughter, Music, Love, Passion, Kindness... man! Rock on!!! That's what Life is all about!!!! I hope I see all of you at the gig on December 10th. Today I'm heading into the rehearsal studio for the first time since last year to assemble this little group of amazing artists -- George Wurzbach, Ryan Cavan, Nelson Montana, Chris Tedesco, Dave Marcus and Teresa Reynolds. Not only are they also good at what they do, they are among the sweetest people I know. So I always have so much fun putting these gigs together. We really do laugh as much as we sing at these things.

DON'T MISS THIS NIGHT THIS YEAR!!! It's a yearly tradition that, every year, turns into something very fun, and very cool, and kinda special.
You can get tickets online right now by hitting the banner below. But the box office is open today and all week! You can call them directly...
212-501-3330
...and talk to Biz or Shayla. They're great!!!
We laugh as much as we sing at these things! And we have a whole bunch of new songs and a few surprises this year. We'll also be singing a bunch of your favorites from Central Park. Right now, there are plenty of good seats left. There are 500 seats in Merkin Concert Hall and there isn't a bad seat in the house. If you've ever been there you know... even the balcony is right on top of the stage so it's a very intimate venue. It's still early, but as of today there are about 200 seats left.
Now that we're into November, tickets start flying.
And here are a few videos for you to pass around. Hope some of them help you think and others help you smile today.

HERE'S A SONG WE'RE GOING TO DEBUT WITH THE BAND on DECEMBER 10!!!
Okay... once again, I teamed up with my pal Dean, who is an EMMY AWARD-winning filmmaker... in support of OWS! HERE'S THE NEWEST VIDEO!(It is intended to help counter the distorted and often purposely skewed image of the "Occupy Wall Street" movement by much of the "news" media. You can help by turning all your friends onto this video.)
.
How does an idea or a feeling make it all the way around the planet in one week or one day?
YOU!
Dat's how!
Send this video to everyone you know. Send it to people you don't know! Post it to your Facebook pages. Email it to Congress. Send it everywhere!
Okay now, for any newcomers... here's something about one of the two big projects we're cookin' here at the site.
Y'know? Music is most often a "mirror" to help reflect the world around us. But sometimes it's also a "hammer" to help shape the world around us. Both ways... it usually feels great if you're doin' it right! Maybe it's time to reach a larger audience!!!! Maybe on Broadway!
In a nutshell, we're putting together something that we hope is headed for Broadway or... Jupiter... or... I don't know. But it's gonna be done someplace. Broadway legend, TONY WALTON, a man who has more Tony Awards and Academy Awards than I have socks, is behind it 100%... so now it's just about getting the right team together and working it. I'll be inviting all of you to another one of those small, unplugged work sessions very soon, so keep checking back. The last 2 filled up in a matter of hours.
Here's a little 10-minute video from Tony and his wife... explaining the project.
As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
