How many of you watched The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year?
I did. Always watch at least some of it. It brings back deep, deep feelings of the wonder of childhood for me. It officially kicks off the holiday season here in The Big Apple.
I gotta tell you, though... when I was a kid, it actually looked like more of a parade on TV. For the past 10 years or so, it's gotten more and more like one big, long commercial for upcoming Broadway shows and artists releasing new music. Y'know? They don't seem to televise the high school kids from all around the country who made the trip of a lifetime to march and be a part of this great tradition as much as they used to. NBC doesn't shoot the parade making it's way downtown through the canyons of New York as much. They spend sssoooooooooo much time in a stationary spot at Herald Square, broadcasting lip-synced songs and dance routines. but it's still a cool way to kick off the season.
Did you see the "Guitar Man from Central Park Balloon" this year"

There isn't a bad seat in Merkin Concert Hall. I'm serious, the guys in the balcony have as much fun as the people in the orchestra. It's always a really fun crowd up there. And this beautiful venue is really designed for orchestral stuff, so it's really very intimate. The balcony is very close to the stage... like, the first row of the balcony is at Row H in the orchestra.
NOW -- here's a song I'm gonna debut with the bad at the gig on December 10th. And once again, I wanna ask you guys to keep this video moving around the planet. (It is intended to help counter the distorted and often purposely skewed image of the "Occupy Wall Street" movement by much of the "news" media. You can help by turning all your friends onto this video.)
THE NEWEST SONG AND VIDEO!

Send this video to everyone you know. Send it to people you don't know! Post it to your Facebook pages. Email it to Congress. Send it everywhere!
Y'know? This was year #20 that I've been known as "That Guitar Man from Central Park". As the result of sharing all those typically amazing afternoons of music an laughs in the middle of the greatest city in the world, I've become aware that there are always a lot of you checking in from different parts of the country and different parts of the world.
Thanks again to all of you who hung with me this year during our "outdoor" season.
For newcomers, here's a little Photo Gallery from this past Summer. Very cool. Maybe you're in there! (It's still growing!)
As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
