Hey guys...

NEW SONG HERE TODAY!!!

And we're getting ready for the big, yearly tradition... the concert on December 10th!!!

I guess all this week I'll probably be thanking all of you for another really wonderful Summer as "That Guitar Man from Central Park". It really was another fun, fun year... that just flew by so fast. (I guess that'll happen as the slices of the pie get more numerous and smaller.)

But yeah man... it seems like "Opening Day" was like a month ago. And now here we are ramping up for "The Something'th Annual Year End Concert". We're gonna have sooooooo much fun this year. I can already feel that it's gonna be another special night. (More about that in a minute.)

Here's a Photo Gallery from this season. Maybe you're in there! (It's still growing!)

THE NEW SONG... AND... WHAT D'YOU THINK?

Just a little further down the page, I'm gonna post the link for you to share your thoughts and feelings. In a few sentences, I would love to hear from YOU. Tell me what you think and how you feel. (Later this week I will post bunch of your thoughts and comments on this site for everyone to read.)

And I wanna say out loud again how much I support the feeling behind "Occupy Wall street"... downtown and all across the country and around the world. I'm with you. I am you. We are The People. And... yeah. Enough is enough.

I'm a little bit saddened that it took the "economy" to actually get people back out into the streets raising their voices. I mean, we watched as our nation invaded and occupied a sovereign country and caused the death of hundreds of thousands of men women and children, and inflicted horrible injury on thousands more. We remain silent as our government openly and blatantly tortured people in our names and incarcerated people without charge. We stood by as we watched the post-911 administration chip away and, at times, obliterate our civil rights in the name of "security". But as soon as it all hits our pocket book, we get pissed off!

Still, it's more than just that... and that's a good thing. The financial bailouts and the unconscionable inequities and unfairness in our financial system has pushed on our sense of "Justice". And that's a Good, Good place to start.

Y'know, it's so funny. As an artist and as an American singer/songwriter it's part of my job to pay attention to social and political issues, and so I monitor all the cable news networks to see what they all have to say about things, just about every day. I even watch the propaganda machine that is FOX NEWS so that I can hear what basically narrow-minded children say about the world around us. (Well, I watch in small doses... usually about 10 or 15 minutes at a time until I start to gag, or shake my head in disgust and sadness.)

But one of the general thoughts or themes I hear from ALL of them come in the form of questions and statements like, "Where is their "White Paper"? What are their specific demands? What is their one message? These people don't have a unified, focused agenda. They are all over the place. They're just angry for the sake of being angry."

Okay. Gotta ask this one simple question right back.

.

.

What is the alternative?

.

.

.

Silence? Docile acceptance? The status quo? Keeping silent in the face of a system that is so utterly stacked in the favor of the wealthy? Remaining silent in the face of political corruption matched only in the first "Gilded Age" and the days of Boss Tweed? Remaining mute in the face of religious-right-wing hypocrisy, fear-driven bigotry and more unconscionable injustice?

No, I think kicking up some dust and takin' it to the streets is long, long, long overdue.

And as the saying goes -- "If you're not outraged... you're not paying attention."

.

.

Listen, I know an awful lot of you are reading this in different parts of the country and different parts of the world. Please don't buy the image of the "Occupy Wall Street" movement downtown as you see it portrayed in the American "news" media in between Jenny Craig commercials. Take it from somebody who's been down there to stand with the movement and who will be going back as soon as it starts raining this week. I mean, the movement organizers marched to Times Square this weekend. NBC covered the march and... who did they choose to interview?

The tattooed guy in the pirate costume.

The overwhelming, overwhelming majority of people in Zuccotti Park are serious minded, intelligent, hard working, kind, thoughtful people worthy of respect, admiration and attention.

I hope in some small way, as an artist, as a man, as a fellow human being, as a New Yorker and as an American citizen I do my part to help them make a difference for the better.

AND SO... HERE'S MY FIRST REAL CONTRIBUTION. It's still a work-in-progress... but this is very close to the final track.

I'm heading downtown again with Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Dean Love and we're gonna shoot a music video down there, to present a truthful picture of the people in this movement.

HERE'S THE SONG!

HOW ARE YOU FEELING ABOUT ALL OF THIS THESE DAYS?

I wanna hear from all sides, all honest thought-out feelings.

OKAY NOW!!!

THE TICKETS ARE ALREADY ON SALE FOR THE CONCERT ON DECEMBER 10 !!!

.

And the box office is open today! You can call them today...

212-501-3330

...to make sure you get the very best seats.

I mean, there isn't a bad seat in Merkin Concert Hall in The Kaufman Center. there really isn't. If you've ever been there you know... it's a beautiful 500-seat venue which is designed for orchestral concerts. So, it's a wide stage with a very intimate feel.

Every year I get to share a stage with some of the most amazing, funniest, most generous, good-hearted, fun artists anywhere... and that's at Merkin Concert Hall in The Kaufman Center in New York City. This year it's lookin' like the usual suspects... George Wurzbach, Teresa Reynolds, Nelson Montana, Ryan Cavan, David Marcus and Chris Tedesco.

Yeah, I know right now December 10th might feel like a long way off. But it's really less than 8 weeks away. And you know how it goes once we get into November, tickets start flying.

So, it might be a good idea to kinda plan your night around Saturday night, December 10th soon. Y'know? Call a few friends. See who's gonna be in town. See who feels like grabbing dinner in Manhattan that weekend and catching the show.

.

If you already know that you wanna be at this show and you wanna grab the very best seats, you can get them today!!!!
Cool?

In the meantime, for any newcomers... Here's something about one of the two big projects we're cookin' here at the site.

Y'know? Music is most often a "mirror" to help reflect the world around us. But sometimes it's also a "hammer" to help shape the world around us. Both ways... it usually feels great if you're doin' it right!

We're still looking of the right person to direct the piece and we could still use some help financially. We've raised about $20,000 for the workshop but could probably use about another $5,000 to get it on it's feet. So... if you're inclined to help (Or you're one of those people who just has too damned much money and wants to put it to good use!) ... this is what we're trying to do. Maybe it's time to reach a larger audience!!!! Maybe on Broadway!

Okay now you can find out how YOU can be a part of this new project here.

In a nutshell, we're putting together something that we hope is headed for Broadway or... Jupiter... or... I don't know. But it's gonna be done someplace. Broadway legend, TONY WALTON, a man who has more Tony Awards and Academy Awards than I have socks, is behind it 100%... so now it's just about getting the right team together and working it. I'll be inviting all of you to another one of those small, unplugged work sessions very soon, so keep checking back. The last 2 filled up in a matter of hours.

Here's a little 10-minute video from Tony and his wife... explaining the project.

Hey listen, as I'm wrapping up my 20th season as "That Guitar Man from Central Park", a whole bunch of us are thinking it's time to bring the whole thing to a much larger audience.

Y'know? I get to work with some of the most amazing, generous and talented artists. They're all wonderful people, too, or I wouldn't call them my friends as well as colleagues. And as much as I like writing song, putting my guitar on my shoulder and being "the guy", I also love being "the guy who gets to open a door for the other guys!"

So, my buddy and I are gonna try to get this project on it's feet.

He's Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Dean Love, and this is really his baby. He's asked me to host it and help bring my artist-friends to the project as well... hopefully letting the whole world in on some of the wonderful things they're doing.

THERE

I guess if you've been coming around here at all, you know about this and that we need your help with it! It's a web-series / TV project that I've been telling you about over the past few months and we've finally launched it's funding campaign.

I'll be telling you guys a lot more about it over the next few weeks.

Welcome to all you newcomers! WELCOME to you if this is your first time here at the website! I hope you bookmark it and check back every day. It's become a very fun, very under-the-radar little New York Secret. You can always keep up with the cool stuff that's goin' on around me and my music and all the amazing people in this circle of friends and fellow-artists.

You can always go back and browse through THE ARCHIVE as far back as you wanna go. I mean... thanks to my friend, my webmaster, and resident evil genius James Marino, you can historically go back through this website all the way back through the Bush years right up until the present. It's really kinda freaky how much content is here on this site.... cartoons, free songs, Photoshop images. Very cool.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
