The weather is lookin' sooooo shaky and unsettled. But let's try it!
.
I know an awful lot of you are checking in from different parts of the country and different parts of the the world. But if you're here in New York City, I hope you can make your way to the park today... and I hope the rain hold off until later... like... November.
.
If you're new to all of this, here's a little map that will help you find us in New York City's beautiful 843 acre backyard. If you're like me and you're gonna stay in town this weekend, I hope I see you out there today!

I was up at Yankee Stadium last night for the opening game of The ALDS Series and the game got rained out in the middle of the second inning. I mean... really RAINED OUT!
.
This is another one of those days. I'm thinkin' the Sun is probably gonna break through the clouds, followed by one more round of rain. Today is gonna be all about timing.
This is turning into a pretty lean autumn season around here. But what the hell! I've got inside work to do as well. Y'know, I can't make hay if the Sun ain't shinin'. But I don't have anything new to play for you guys if I don't spend time creating it.
.
I'm working on 3 new songs this week, and I think one of them was ready to roll out at "The Hill" today. It's something that I'm hoping everyone can sing. I never really now about these things until I run 'em past you guys.
But it's not lookin' real good. Like I've been saying, this time of year we never know how many we're gonna have left in the "outdoor" season. We have the permit for the next 2 Saturdays before we call it a wrap for 2011
Man! Since Irene came to town, we've hit a string of rotten weekend weather. That's just timing. I don't say "bad" timing because the way I live... things like this are not good news, or bad news.... it's just the news. So, I guess I'm supposed to be indoors writing the next song, or doing inside work, waiting for the next little perfectly explainable "miracle" in my life. Okay. Okay. That's gonna make me work a little harder to get a sell-out on December 10th. I've already started kicking stuff around for the December concert at Merkin Concert Hall in The Kaufman Center.
Here are some photos, just to get you in the mood.

Hey listen, as I'm wrapping up my 20th season as "That Guitar Man from Central Park", a whole bunch of us are thinking it's time to bring the whole thing to a much larger audience.
Y'know? I get to work with some of the most amazing, generous and talented artists. They're all wonderful people, too, or I wouldn't call them my friends as well as colleagues. And as much as I like writing song, putting my guitar on my shoulder and being "the guy", I also love being "the guy who gets to open a door for the other guys!"
So, my buddy and I are gonna try to get this project on it's feet.
He's Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Dean Love, and this is really his baby. He's asked me to host it and help bring my artist-friends to the project as well... hopefully letting the whole world in on some of the wonderful things they're doing.

I guess if you've been coming around here at all, you know about this and that we need your help with it! It's a web-series / TV project that I've been telling you about over the past few months and we've finally launched it's funding campaign.

And then click here to visit the launch website to be a part of all of this. At the site you can see all the cool shit you get for joining this effort.
I'll be telling you guys a lot more about it over the next few weeks.

Y'know, honestly -- what a very cool thing it is I get to do with my Life and my music. I'm so, so grateful to every single one of you who are reading this right now... every single person who's ever hung out with me even once in that park. It means so much to me to know that there are people who "get" what my music and my stories have to say to the world. It reminds me... I guess, it reminds all of us that we're not alone and that there are others who "get it".
Y'know what? I always say that when you do what you love for a living, when you do what I do for a living, every day of a Life is a vacation day and every day is a work day. So I think filmmaker Dean Love and I are gonna shoot a pitch video for an idea we've been kickin' around for an interactive, internet TV show called "THERE".
I'm really getting to work on a couple of things... one of them is this new Broadway project. I'm gonna talk about this a little bit more tomorrow as well. I really feel that it's time to take the whole feeling we get in Central Park to a much larger audience. I'm just about to enter a new place where this little "Broadway" piece will really begin to come together. Now I'm just in the "dating" process... to find the right producers to make it a reality... and the right director/co-writer/co-creator to bring this thing to life.
Seriously. This is getting exciting. But then again.... it's what I do. This is the kind of stuff that makes me live.
In a nutshell, we're putting together something that we hope is headed for Broadway or... Jupiter... or... I don't know. But it's gonna be done someplace. Broadway legend, TONY WALTON, a man who has more Tony Awards and Academy Awards than I have socks, is behind it 100%... so now it's just about getting the right team together and working it.
Here's a little 10-minute video from Tony and his wife... explaining the project.

Are you new here to this website? Now, you might be one of the people who's checking in here for the first time. (There are always a bunch of newcomers here at the site, especially in the Summer season. Bookmark it every day and check back. I'm gonna start bring more video to this page again very soon.)
If you're new you can always go back and browse through THE ARCHIVE as far back as you wanna go. I mean... thanks to my friend, my webmaster, and resident evil genius James Marino, you can historically go back through this website all the way back through the Bush years right up until the present. It's really kinda freaky how much content is here on this site.... cartoons, free songs, Photoshop images. Very cool.
And the Photo Galleries just keep growing. (Maybe you're in there!!!).

AND HERE'S A REALLY FUN GALLERY FROM LAST SUMMER!!!

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
