Hey guys... the "outdoor season" is not quite over yet. We have the Special Events Permit for this coming Saturday. We probably get 2 more times to hang together in Central Park before we close out 2011. So if you're gonna be in town on Saturday, hope you decide to hang with me for a little while next weekend. I'll run that new song by you guys.

Whew! What a wet weekend. Hell... what a wet month!
.
But y'know? I love this time of year. I love every season here in New York City, except maybe from mid-January to mid-March when everything is usually pretty cold and gray. But I mean, Springtime is exciting. Spring and Summer are when my "outdoor" season in Central Park gets going into high gear. And then September is usually one of those months when we have unbelievable special days out there at "The Hill" in Central Park. Then in October, we get that first chill in the air... that very first hint that the leaves are about to begin changing color.
Soon after that, Central Park becomes a watercolor painting and the trees just start showing off.
Then in November, we get that first little blast from the North Witch and we realize that winter is on the way. Next thing y'know, there's a Thanksgiving Parade moving down Central Park West on it's way to Herald Square, Santa Claus is making his entrance, and twinkling colored lights are beginning to decorate the entire city. Maybe we get our first snow fall in December for the holidays. (There are few places on earth as romantic as Central Park in the snow.)
And December is also when it's time for all of us to get together in a beautiful venue in The Kaufman Center in Manhattan, for a night that has become an annual tradition for so many people. On Saturday night, December 10th we're all heading back to Merkin Concert Hall for...
"The Something'th Annual Year End Concert"
HERE A FEW VIDEOS FROM PAST SHOWS just to give you an idea what these gigs feel like. We have a lot of fun at these things. I always say, we laugh as much as we song every year. It's a great way to kick the year in the ass as it heads out the door.

This year is gonna be another blast. Every year I get to share a stage with some of the most amazing, funniest, most generous, good-hearted, fun artists anywhere... and that's at Merkin Concert Hall in The Kaufman Center in New York City. This year it's lookin' like the usual suspects... Geroge Wurzbach, Teresa Reynolds, Nelson Montana, Ryan Cavan, David Marcus and Chris Tedesco.
Yeah, I know right now December 10th might feel like a long way off. But this coming weekend is already the last weekend of September. And you know how it goes once we get into November, tickets start flying.
So, it might be a good idea to kinda plan your night around Saturday night, December 10th soon. Y'know? Call a few friends. See who's gonna be in town. See who feels like grabbing dinner in Manhattan that weekend and catching the show.

If you already know that you wanna be at this show and you wanna grab the very best seats, you can get them today!!!!
FOR THE NEWCOMERS TO THIS SITE -- let me just share a little bit about some really exciting projects I've got on my plate. The first is this attempt to bring the whole "park" thing to a much larger audience.... maybe even the Broadway stage.
We're still looking of the right person to direct the piece and we could still use some help financially. We've raised about $20,000 for the workshop but could probably use about another $5,000 to get it on it's feet. So... if you're inclined to help (Or you're one of those people who just has too damned much money and wants to put it to good use!) ... this is what we're trying to do. Maybe it's time to reach a larger audience!!!! Maybe on Broadway!
In a nutshell, we're putting together something that we hope is headed for Broadway or... Jupiter... or... I don't know. But it's gonna be done someplace. Broadway legend, TONY WALTON, a man who has more Tony Awards and Academy Awards than I have socks, is behind it 100%... so now it's just about getting the right team together and working it. I'll be inviting all of you to another one of those small, unplugged work sessions very soon, so keep checking back. The last 2 filled up in a matter of hours.
Here's a little 10-minute video from Tony and his wife... explaining the project.
I guess this would also be a good time to let you guys know that you can be a part of something else that will be uniquely New York. I mean, you can be a very real part of making something very cool become a reality. A friend of mine has this project he's wantin' to get off the ground and I think it's a damned good one. He's Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Dean Love, and this is really his baby. He's asked me to host it and help bring my artist-friends to the project as well... hopefully letting the whole world in on some of the wonderful things they're doing.

I guess if you've been coming around here at all, you know about this and that we need your help with it! It's a web-series / TV project that I've been telling you about over the past few months and we've finally launched it's funding campaign.

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
