THIS IS ALWAYS COOL! GOT A NEW SONG FOR YOU GUYS HERE TODAY!

It's a brand new song. There will be 2 versions of this particular song -- one that will specifically about the crap that went on downtown at Hudson River Park this past summer, and as my Pop put it... "One that will appeal to a wider audience."

But the first scratch run at the song is here for you to check out. (Further down the page.)

.

.

HOLY SMOKES!!!

Oh man! After the rainy, rainy, rainy, RAINY month of September and a really wet start to October... LOOK AT HIS WEATHER!

Yeah, baby! I'm heading out to "The Hill" tomorrow!!!!

TOMORROW! BACK OUT TO CENTRAL PARK ONE MO' TIME!

.

.

And I gotta say! I was up at Yankee Stadium last night and the plyoff-ride finally ended! Kinda went out with a whimper. Good luck to Detroit the rest of the way. (I'm thinkin' that city could use a little shot in the arm and something to cheer about these days.) And as I always say... baseball is in "The Toy Department of Life". So I'll just say, "Thanks to the Yanks for a fun season. And in a little while I'll start counting the days to 'pitchers & catchers' reporting for Spring training in 2012."

.

.

TOMORROW!

If you're not one of those people who is reading this in another part of the country or another part of the world, I hope you can make tit out to Central Park to hang out with me tomorrow. I'll put my guitar on my shoulder and crank up about 1:00 and play until I fall over.... or around 5:00 or 6:00.

If you're new to all of this, here's a little map that will help you find us in New York City's beautiful 843 acre backyard. If you're like me and you're gonna be in town this weekend, I hope I see you out there today!

Okay now...

One of the 3 NEW SONGS

Right now I've got 3 new songs cookin'. It's so weird. They all couldn't be more different than each other. One is a positive, uplifting track about reviewing the choices in a Life. Another is about the un-evolved barbarism of capital punishment in this world. But I'm gonna give you a little taste of this third one... that is really unlike the others.

This is a work-in-progress. Maybe we'll debut this song so all of you can sing it at the "Year End Concert" in December.

Remember when that nonsense took place downtown in Hudson River Park. In a nutshell, the people who run that park kinda embarrassed themselves by pulling the plug on my singing the Sun down after about 10 years of music and sunsets because some entitled, self-centered people lied to them in a complaint about something I supposedly said during a gig. At first it seemed incomprehensible that the people who Hudson River Park could react that way without knowing what the hell went on. Then a bunch of you guys got really pissed off and the whole issue got picked up in the news media. It went so far that The Dr. Phil Show sent a producer/director out to interview me about the whole silly thing.

Honestly -- not that I care all that much about the motives of other people, but I was suspecting that there must have been something else going on behind closed doors. I thought about different possibilities... maybe the people who run that park are just THAT bad at their jobs. (The park is is financially running horribly in the red.) Maybe there was something political going on. Maybe it was just the kind of thing that happens in a park that is actually a corporation. Maybe it was about donors or favors. I had fun kicking some of these things around because the Truth was never really sought. And then.... THEN it finally became clear to me. The entire issue boiled down to something very, very simple.

Very simple.

And so, as always, when I stumble upon a simple Truth I try to put it in a song. The new song that was born from the conflict downtown is called...

"THERE WILL ALWAYS BE"

Come to the park to hear the rest of it, or at the concert on DECEMBER 10th. When I see you, maybe we'll all sing it together! If you like this song, or if you really don't like this song... shoot me an email and let me know how you feel!!!

This might be a good time for you to start thinking about who you would like to bring to...

"The Something'th Annual Year End Concert"

Every year I get to share a stage with some of the most amazing, funniest, most generous, good-hearted, fun artists anywhere... and that's at Merkin Concert Hall in The Kaufman Center in New York City. This year it's lookin' like the usual suspects... George Wurzbach, Teresa Reynolds, Nelson Montana, Ryan Cavan, David Marcus and Chris Tedesco.

Yeah, I know right now December 10th might feel like a long way off. But this coming weekend is already the last weekend of September. And you know how it goes once we get into November, tickets start flying.

So, it might be a good idea to kinda plan your night around Saturday night, December 10th soon. Y'know? Call a few friends. See who's gonna be in town. See who feels like grabbing dinner in Manhattan that weekend and catching the show.

.

If you already know that you wanna be at this show and you wanna grab the very best seats, you can get them today!!!!

You can just call the box office directly:

Maybe a song like that will make it into one or both of these projects. I wanna jump start myself, my enthusiasm, and everybody's awareness about just a couple of really fun and exciting projects on the horizon. FIRST -- this is the new Broadway project. I'm gonna talk about this a little bit more tomorrow as well. I really feel that it's time to take the whole feeling we get in Central Park to a much larger audience. I'm just about to enter a new place where this little "Broadway" piece will really begin to come together. Now I'm just in the "dating" process... to find the right producers to make it a reality... and the right director/co-writer/co-creator to bring this thing to life.

Seriously. This is getting exciting. But then again.... it's what I do. This is the kind of stuff that makes me live.

In a nutshell, we're putting together something that we hope is headed for Broadway or... Jupiter... or... I don't know. But it's gonna be done someplace. Broadway legend, TONY WALTON, a man who has more Tony Awards and Academy Awards than I have socks, is behind it 100%... so now it's just about getting the right team together and working it.

Here's a little 10-minute video from Tony and his wife... explaining the project.

Hey listen, as I'm wrapping up my 20th season as "That Guitar Man from Central Park", a whole bunch of us are thinking it's time to bring the whole thing to a much larger audience.

Y'know? I get to work with some of the most amazing, generous and talented artists. They're all wonderful people, too, or I wouldn't call them my friends as well as colleagues. And as much as I like writing song, putting my guitar on my shoulder and being "the guy", I also love being "the guy who gets to open a door for the other guys!"

So, my buddy and I are gonna try to get this project on it's feet.

He's Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Dean Love, and this is really his baby. He's asked me to host it and help bring my artist-friends to the project as well... hopefully letting the whole world in on some of the wonderful things they're doing.

THERE

I guess if you've been coming around here at all, you know about this and that we need your help with it! It's a web-series / TV project that I've been telling you about over the past few months and we've finally launched it's funding campaign.

If you're new you can always go back and browse through THE ARCHIVE as far back as you wanna go. I mean... thanks to my friend, my webmaster, and resident evil genius James Marino, you can historically go back through this website all the way back through the Bush years right up until the present. It's really kinda freaky how much content is here on this site.... cartoons, free songs, Photoshop images. Very cool.

Here are a couple of different fun galleries to check out.

Y'know, honestly -- what a very cool thing it is I get to do with my Life and my music. I'm so, so grateful to every single one of you who are reading this right now... every single person who's ever hung out with me even once in that park. It means so much to me to know that there are people who "get" what my music and my stories have to say to the world. It reminds me... I guess, it reminds all of us that we're not alone and that there are others who "get it".

Are you new here to this website? Now, you might be one of the people who's checking in here for the first time. (There are always a bunch of newcomers here at the site, especially in the Summer season. Bookmark it every day and check back. I'm gonna start bring more video to this page again very soon.)

GIMME A SHOUT HERE!

(Actually, gimme a shout for any reason at all!)

.

HAVE FUN TODAY!!!!!! (And be cool to each other, okay?)

.

Thanks for everything.

Peace ☮

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
