For a lot of you, I don't know what the weather is like today in your part of the country or in your part of the world. But here in New York City today... it's like a Spring day. The Sun is shining, it's gonna be about 80 degrees, and I'm gonna head out to Central Park, put my guitar on my shoulder and hang with whomever decides to show up and spend the day with me.

Gonna run a few brand new songs by you guys.
Gonna have Teresa Reynolds stopping by to song with me again.
At this time of year, y'never know how many days like this we're gonna get to hang together. We've got "The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" coming up on December 10, but before that I'd like to close out the "outdoor" season with some more music, some more laughs and a few more great memories. So if you're in town today, I hope you make your way out there for a while.
If you're new to all of this, here's a little map that will help you find us in New York City's beautiful 843 acre backyard. If you're like me and you're gonna be in town this weekend, I hope I see you out there today!

Can you believe we're already near the end of the "outdoor season" for 2011!? Man! This Summer flew. It really did. It seems like opening day was just a few weeks ago. It's not quite over yet, but it was just another typically amazing year. When I first stood in that spot and began sharing music and stories, thoughts and feelings with "The People on the Hill", I never could have imagined that over the coming years I would have sung with so many thousands and thousands of people from all across the country and all around the world. What a Life! What a ride!
Thank you all.

So I'm heading out there any warm sunny days we can get in October and then it's time for...
"THE SOMETHING'TH ANNUAL YEAR END CONCERT"
.
Every year I get to share a stage with some of the most amazing, funniest, most generous, good-hearted, fun artists anywhere... and that's at Merkin Concert Hall in The Kaufman Center in New York City. This year it's lookin' like the usual suspects... Geroge Wurzbach, Teresa Reynolds, Nelson Montana, Ryan Cavan, David Marcus and Chris Tedesco.
Yeah, I know right now December 10th might feel like a long way off. But this coming weekend is already the last weekend of September. And you know how it goes once we get into November, tickets start flying.
So, it might be a good idea to kinda plan your night around Saturday night, December 10th soon. Y'know? Call a few friends. See who's gonna be in town. See who feels like grabbing dinner in Manhattan that weekend and catching...
"THE SOMETHING'TH ANNUAL YEAR END CONCERT"
.
If you already know that you wanna be at this show and you wanna grab the very best seats, you can get them starting today!!!!
Here's a fun song from last year's concert... inspired by America's fascination with Bristol Palin last year, an unwed mother and attention hound who was suddenly being called a "star" on a national TV show. This is a song I wrote and debuted at Merkin Hall last December.

You know it would be very cool to talk and sing about this kinda stuff on Broadway one of these days. While we're singing and laughin' through this show we're putting together, it'll mostly be about Love and Reason and Principle. But we can't look away from cartoon characters like Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry.
We're still looking of the right person to direct the piece and we could still use some help financially. We've raised about $20,000 for the workshop but could probably use about another $5,000 to get it on it's feet. So... if you're inclined to help (Or you're one of those people who just has too damned much money and wants to put it to good use!) ... this is what we're trying to do. Maybe it's time to reach a larger audience!!!! Maybe on Broadway!
In a nutshell, we're putting together something that we hope is headed for Broadway or... Jupiter... or... I don't know. But it's gonna be done someplace. Broadway legend, TONY WALTON, a man who has more Tony Awards and Academy Awards than I have socks, is behind it 100%... so now it's just about getting the right team together and working it. I'll be inviting all of you to another one of those small, unplugged work sessions very soon, so keep checking back. The last 2 filled up in a matter of hours.
Here's a little 10-minute video from Tony and his wife... explaining the project.
Y'know? I get to work with some of the most amazing, generous and talented artists. They're all wonderful people, too, or I wouldn't call them my friends as well as colleagues. And as much as I like writing song, putting my guitar on my shoulder and being "the guy", I also love being "the guy who gets to open a door for the other guys!"
So, my buddy and I are gonna try to get this project on it's feet.
He's Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Dean Love, and this is really his baby. He's asked me to host it and help bring my artist-friends to the project as well... hopefully letting the whole world in on some of the wonderful things they're doing.

I guess if you've been coming around here at all, you know about this and that we need your help with it! It's a web-series / TV project that I've been telling you about over the past few months and we've finally launched it's funding campaign.

Welcome to all you newcomers! WELCOME to you if this is your first time here at the website! I hope you bookmark it and check back every day. It's become a very fun, very under-the-radar little New York Secret. You can always keep up with the cool stuff that's goin' on around me and my music and all the amazing people in this circle of friends and fellow-artists.
You can always go back and browse through THE ARCHIVE as far back as you wanna go. I mean... thanks to my friend, my webmaster, and resident evil genius James Marino, you can historically go back through this website all the way back through the Bush years right up until the present. It's really kinda freaky how much content is here on this site.... cartoons, free songs, Photoshop images. Very cool.

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
