Okay... if you're here in New York City, I hope you can join me in Central Park tomorrow.
.
Well, I'm all set for one more afternoon of music and laughs... if the weather cooperates. I'm gonna monitor the radar and satellite imagery. If it's lookin' like we might get rained out, I'll check with Parks Operations to see if it's cool for us to hang on Sunday instead. At this time of year, y'never know how many more we're gonna get. I do know that it's lookin' like October 15 will be the last day of the "outdoor" season. Then it's exactly 8 weeks until the concert on December 10th.
.
(More about that in a minute.)
So if you're around, check back tomorrow morning to see if I'm definitely heading out there with my guitar.
I'm heading up to Yankee Stadium tonight to see if the Yankees can grab their first win on the post season in their "Chase for 28". Here we go!
.
.
HEY YESTERDAY I posted the .30 version of this Volkswagen commercial. A whole lot of you emailed the site and told me that you love this spot. I had never seen it, but I'm told it was last year's Super Bowl commercial. I missed it because I'm usually doing a gig in either Ixtapa, Mexico or down in The Turks & Caicos Islands during the Super Bowl. Last year... Mexico. So this one missed me.
Okay so... I know a lot of you check in from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. But if you're here in NYC check back tomorrow and see if I'm gonna be able to share an afternoon of music and laughs with you guys.
FOR THE NEWCOMERS TO THIS SITE -- let me just share a little bit about some really exciting projects I've got on my plate. The first is this attempt to bring the whole "park" thing to a much larger audience.... maybe even the Broadway stage.
We're still looking of the right person to direct the piece and we could still use some help financially. We've raised about $20,000 for the workshop but could probably use about another $5,000 to get it on it's feet. So... if you're inclined to help (Or you're one of those people who just has too damned much money and wants to put it to good use!) ... this is what we're trying to do. Maybe it's time to reach a larger audience!!!! Maybe on Broadway!
In a nutshell, we're putting together something that we hope is headed for Broadway or... Jupiter... or... I don't know. But it's gonna be done someplace. Broadway legend, TONY WALTON, a man who has more Tony Awards and Academy Awards than I have socks, is behind it 100%... so now it's just about getting the right team together and working it. I'll be inviting all of you to another one of those small, unplugged work sessions very soon, so keep checking back. The last 2 filled up in a matter of hours.
Here's a little 10-minute video from Tony and his wife... explaining the project.
I guess this would also be a good time to let you guys know that you can be a part of something else that will be uniquely New York. I mean, you can be a very real part of making something very cool become a reality. A friend of mine has this project he's wantin' to get off the ground and I think it's a damned good one. He's Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Dean Love, and this is really his baby. He's asked me to host it and help bring my artist-friends to the project as well... hopefully letting the whole world in on some of the wonderful things they're doing.
THERE
I guess if you've been coming around here at all, you know about this and that we need your help with it! It's a web-series / TV project that I've been telling you about over the past few months and we've finally launched it's funding campaign.

And then click here to visit the launch website to be a part of all of this. At the site you can see all the cool shit you get for joining this effort.
I'll be telling you guys a lot more about it over the next few weeks.

"The Something'th Annual Year End Concert"
Every year I get to share a stage with some of the most amazing, funniest, most generous, good-hearted, fun artists anywhere... and that's at Merkin Concert Hall in The Kaufman Center in New York City. This year it's lookin' like the usual suspects... Geroge Wurzbach, Teresa Reynolds, Nelson Montana, Ryan Cavan, David Marcus and Chris Tedesco.
Yeah, I know right now December 10th might feel like a long way off. But this coming weekend is already the last weekend of September. And you know how it goes once we get into November, tickets start flying.
So, it might be a good idea to kinda plan your night around Saturday night, December 10th soon. Y'know? Call a few friends. See who's gonna be in town. See who feels like grabbing dinner in Manhattan that weekend and catching the show.
.
If you already know that you wanna be at this show and you wanna grab the very best seats, you can get them today!!!!
WELCOME to you if this is your first time here at the website! I hope you bookmark it and check back every day. It's become a very fun, very under-the-radar little New York Secret. You can always keep up with the cool stuff that's goin' on around me and my music and all the amazing people in this circle of friends and fellow-artists.
You can always go back and browse through THE ARCHIVE as far back as you wanna go. I mean... thanks to my friend, my webmaster, and resident evil genius James Marino, you can historically go back through this website all the way back through the Bush years right up until the present. It's really kinda freaky how much content is here on this site.... cartoons, free songs, Photoshop images. Very cool.
.
This year's PHOTO GALLERY will include lots of great images from out season inCentral Park.

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
