Look at this weather! I think we're gonna get a day of music in!
And if you're like me and you stayed in town for this 3-day weekend, you already feel the slower, Peaceful energy in this town. Well, today I'm doin' what I've been doing for an entire generation. I'm gonna head out to Central Park and put my guitar on my shoulder... and see what happens!
.
TODAY, I know I'm gonna be joined by Teresa Reynolds again. And I have a feeling that I'll be sharing a microphone with a guy who moved outta town a few years ago, but you've heard him singing on my most recent album and he was a crowd favorite for years out there.
AND... since it's a holiday weekend, I have a little tradition that makes me smile every time I pull it off. It's gonna happen again today. I can't give it away. Many of you reading this know what it is I like to do on a holiday weekend out there. But let's just say I love the idea that next week there will be tourists back in their homes across the country and in different parts of the world, and people at their water coolers at work here in Manhattan next week, who will say, "Yeah, we were just hangin' out in the park, and singin' and laughin'. And then this guy, the guitar man..."
(Maybe it's not as cool a thing as I feel it is. But it makes me smile every time! And that's enough for me!!!)
.
So if you're in town I hope I see you out there with me today.
***Oh, oh, oh... and if you're reading this and it happens to be later in the day and you already were out there with me... THANKS for hangin' with me. If you ha a good time, you can shoot me an email here. Actually, you can email me for any reason at all.
I'll be back all week with updates on the new search for a director with the right vision and a "Creative" producer for the stage project.
By "creative" producer... I'm talkin' about someone who knows how to turn an idea into a reality because of passion, because they feel it's worth doing. There are so many people these days in the Broadway world who call themselves producers, but they're really what I call "check-signers" or investors. Hey listen... every show needs money, so investors are important. It takes courage and belief to put money into a Broadway show. But the "Creative" producer is someone who really wants to see a show become a reality and knows how to make it happen.
(Hope the "Creative Producer" has not completely gone the way of the dodo bird.)
If you're new around here... there is a further explanation of the project a little further down the page.
Welcome to all you newcomers! WELCOME to you if this is your first time here at the website! I hope you bookmark it and check back every day. It's become a very fun, very under-the-radar little New York Secret. You can always keep up with the cool stuff that's goin' on around me and my music and all the amazing people in this circle of friends and fellow-artists.
You can always go back and browse through THE ARCHIVE as far back as you wanna go. I mean... thanks to my friend, my webmaster, and resident evil genius James Marino, you can historically go back through this website all the way back through the Bush years right up until the present. It's really kinda freaky how much content is here on this site.... cartoons, free songs, Photoshop images. Very cool.

This year's PHOTO GALLERY will include images from the outdoor season. It'll keep growing as we go along. Maybe you'll see you smiling face in there if you've hung out with me this year.

NOW! About that "Broadway" thang!
Maybe it's time to reach a larger audience!!!! Maybe on Broadway!
In a nutshell, we're putting together something that we hope is headed for Broadway or... Jupiter... or... I don't know. But it's gonna be done someplace. Broadway legend, TONY WALTON, a man who has more Tony Awards and Academy Awards than I have socks, is behind it 100%... so now it's just about getting the right team together and working it. I'll be inviting all of you to another one of those small, unplugged work sessions very soon, so keep checking back. The last 2 filled up in a matter of hours.
Here's a little 10-minute video from Tony and his wife... explaining the project.
As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
