Welcome to the website.
Many, many of you check in here every day from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. But most of you are New Yorkers like me.
Yesterday we had another day in Central Park that was good... it was fun... but it was odd. The feeling was a little "off" for me all day. I was pretty convinced that it was just me, and I even said something about it late in the day to the crowd. I apologized to the sweet people who were hangin' on "The Hill" late in the day for being a little "off". But later on, after speaking with several friends, I learned form them that they were all feeling a little strange as well. It had nothing to do with any significance of the date. It just seemed for a while there that every annoying person in New York made their way to "The Hill" for at least a short visit. There was something in the air... maybe a full moon rising. Maybe just the coincidence of circumstance. There was "the wasted couple"... the "change" guy... the loud cell phone guy... the chatty family... UY! There was the one moment of absolute frustration for me as one woman kept walking downtown when I just needed her to walk uptown for a moment! There was the off-and-on drizzle early in the day. The energy just felt odd.
But still... there were so, so many beautiful people hangin' with me all day as well and that makes up for it.
So... there is always enough "Good" in a day for me to say out loud that I feel like the luckiest man alive. Not every day can be "golden" and yet they're all still wonderful in their own way. Maybe just being present and aware enough to say, "Man! That day felt a little weird" is enough of a gift.
I'm so grateful to be doing what I do with my music and with my life... and to be doing it for a living! I will be here tomorrow with photos, and video, and some of the best memories and laughs from yesterday.

If you came here to see what "That Guitar Man" might have to say about the 10th Anniversary of that horrible event downtown 10 years ago... I do. but they are not my words today. I just wanna pass on the words of a few others today.

"We are not hated because we practice democracy, value freedom, or uphold human rights. We are hated because our government denies these things to people in the Third World countries whose resources are coveted by out multinational corporations. The hatred we have sown has come back to haunt us in the form of terrorism. Instead of sending our sons and daughters around the world to kill Arabs so we can have the oil under their sand, we should send them to rebuild their infrastructure, supply clean water, and feed starving children.
In short, we should do good instead of evil. Who would try to stop us? Who would hate us? Who would want to bomb us? That is the truth the American people need to hear."
~ Robert Bowman
(This last quote by Bowman was written before 2001)
