Welcome to every single one of you in different parts of the country and different parts of the world. Here in New York City, I have one question for you guys...

Had enough rain?

.

.

Yeah, me too.

.

I'm ready for all of this to blow out to sea so we can have another afternoon in the sunshine at "The Hill" in Central Park. It's already Thursday and that means we're only 2 days away from hangin' together.

.

First question... did you guys watch that Republican debate last night?

(I'll do something here at the website about that pathetic display in the next few days. For the most part, it was pretty funny until I threw up in my mouth a little.)

Next question... um... I was asked to do an interview with Dominic King of the BBC yesterday about this week and this weekend here in New York City. If I can arrange a link for that, would you guys be interested in hearing that LIVE when it airs in the UK here at the website?

Oh, y'know? While I'm asking questions... I have a question for all of you here in The United States.

Have you just about had it with all the meaningless and gratuitous drivel in the American "news" media about that horrible day we all experienced 10 years ago? I think I'm gonna turn off my television a little later today and turn it back on the following Monday. I mean, I'll be sharing music and stories with a few thousand people this Saturday afternoon, September 10th, and we'll mark that event in our own way.

CNN, MSNBC... their all just so full of shit! It seems they are all looking for the most overly sentimental stories to run up the nearest flagpole.

In light of the fact that an extremely small contingent of Navy Seals actually took out Bin Laden earlier this year, I heard one of these commentators talk about America's response to 9-11...

(Just to refresh our memories in a slightly different way, we responded with an incursion into one country, an illegal and immoral invasion of another which caused the loss of thousands of American lives, the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilian men, women and children. We now allow the government to read our email, to monitor our phone records, and perhaps worst of all... as a nation we now admittedly employ the tactics of our most barbaric enemies by the use of torture.)

This commentator looked into the camera with his best look of gravitas and puzzled, "It makes me wonder if it was all worth it."

It makes him wonder? It makes him fucking wonder!?!?!!?

Holy shit! I'm not even monitoring FOX as a usually do. But I'm guessing that somehow, some way, somebody over there has already blamed Barack Obama for 9-11.

But I'm turning my TV off for a few days.

.

.

Like I said, I did an interview yesterday with my mate across the ocean on BBC Radio Kent... and I tried to express that I feel we sometimes get caught up in the sentimentality, the emotion and even the *romance of a tragedy like that, and instead of learning the lessons we affirm many of the characteristics and attitudes that make those thing possible.

( * By "romance" I mean the mystery or remoteness from an everyday occurrence. So don't start sending me mail about the use of that word!)

But please let me know how you feel about the rest.

Y'know what?

As we look forward to this coming Saturday in the park, I'm gonna re-post the photos from Hot Dog Day last weekend.

We're gonna stay all about Life, and Love, and Reason, and Compassion, and Laughter... and MUSIC!

Look at the faces! This is why I do this every year. Those smiles are etched in my memory forever.

Thanks you New York! Thanks to all of you who hang with me from different parts of this tiny planet!!!!

. . . . . . . . . . .

.

Just so very cool!

.

I'LL BE BACK TOMORROW.... but I'm really hoping to get you guys some video that my buddy Dean shot this week. And then I'll be telling you all about a really exciting project he's gonna ask all of you to be a part of. A lot of really exciting stuff goin' on around here.

.

.
Y'KNOW WHAT!?

Let's say these things and write these songs and speak to a larger audience. There's a bit about a Broadway Project you might wanna be a part of a little further down this page.

Y'think?

Now, you might be one of the people who's checking in here for the first time. (There are always a bunch of newcomers here at the site, especially in the Summer season. Bookmark it every day and check back. I'm gonna start bring more video to this page again very soon.)

GIMME A SHOUT HERE!

(Actually, gimme a shout for any reason at all!)

.

I'm a lucky man.

If you're new you can always go back and browse through THE ARCHIVE as far back as you wanna go. I mean... thanks to my friend, my webmaster, and resident evil genius James Marino, you can historically go back through this website all the way back through the Bush years right up until the present. It's really kinda freaky how much content is here on this site.... cartoons, free songs, Photoshop images. Very cool.

And the Photo Galleries just keep growing. (Maybe you're in there!!!).

.

AND HERE'S A REALLY FUN GALLERY FROM LAST SUMMER!!!

BTW -- "The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" is booked for Saturday night, December 10th. I know it's early, but I wanted to let you know if you're one of those people who travel down from Buffalo, or in from Pennsylvania, or Maryland, or Germany just for this gig.

The internet has made the world a very small campus and that's a really cool thing. Mostly, if you check back at this website every day, I hope you feel that... "It's Just Us" feeling. You're not alone.

That "Broadway" thing...

Okay now you can find out how YOU can be a part of this new project here.

In a nutshell, we're putting together something that we hope is headed for Broadway or... Jupiter... or... I don't know. But it's gonna be done someplace. Broadway legend, TONY WALTON, a man who has more Tony Awards and Academy Awards than I have socks, is behind it 100%... so now it's just about getting the right team together and working it. I'll be inviting all of you to another one of those small, unplugged work sessions very soon, so keep checking back. The last 2 filled up in a matter of hours.

Here's a little 10-minute video from Tony and his wife... explaining the project.

.

And here's a link to visit if YOU wanna be a real part of this process.

Here are a couple of different fun galleries to check out.

HAVE FUN TODAY!!!!!! (And be cool to each other, okay?)

.

.

Thanks for everything.

Peace ☮

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
