Welcome to all of you checking in from different parts of the country and different parts of the world.

If you're here in New York City, I hope I see you later today!!!

I'm gonna help out a friend and colleague with a gig she's doing outdoors over at Lincoln Center this evening. (More about that further down the page.)

Last night I was back up at Yankee Stadium last night with another friend... sitting in the soggy seats watching a bunch of ball players run around a soggy outfield. But at least it didn't rain... though by the end of the game it got so humid, that I think a percentage tick higher in the humidity would mean we were officially underwater. And the Yankees lost another heartbreaker of a game.

Yesterday and last night were just... soggy.

Made me think of "The Soggy Bottom Boys"

Love this movie. Love this song.

I think tomorrow I'm gonna post the "ol' timey version" of that song. It's got a different feel, but it makes a really, really fun music video. If you saw the film (which I thought was brilliant) the video tomorrow will most definitely make you smile. That's tomorrow... so check back.

Y'know, Teresa Reynolds was suggesting that we actually do a cover of that song in the park. I think it's a great idea. She's gonna be out of town most of the month of August. But as soon as we get together to take a run at it, maybe we'll bring it out to fly it passed you guys.

Anyway, getting back to the game last night... I'm thinkin' it's time to move AJ Burnett into the bullpen and be done with it for the season.... hand these kids Nova and Hughes the ball the rest of the way.

.

Now! Today is not soggy here in town. Today there ain't a cloud in the sky! Here's hoping that we hang on to some clear skies right on through Sunday so we can get back out to Central Park on Saturday afternoon. Really missed you guys last weekend.

TODAY! I'm gonna head over to Lincoln Center at 6:00 to help my friend Christine Lavin out with a music project she's got on Kickstarter called "There's a Hole in the Bottom of the Sea" about the devastatingly criminal BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Believe it or not, it's gonna be a really fun way to address such a terrible subject. (Everything Chris does is fun. It's like the whole world is her fourth grade class. She's another one of the "good" ones, for sure!)

So listen, if you feel like it... head over to the plaza at Lincoln Center for this outdoor gig. She'll start singin' at 6:00. And then go to Kickstarter and help out with this project, okay?

Cool.

Um... what else is going on around here?

Oh well, I had a lot of fun with the Newsweek cover photo of presidential candidate and wingnut, Michele Bachmann in YESTERDAY'S UPDATE. And it looks like I'm gonna be talkin' to Dr. Phil within the next few weeks about that crap that went on downtown a little while ago. It's all cool. So, keep checking back.

Now, you might be one of the people who's checking in here for the first time. (There are always a bunch of newcomers here at the site, especially in the Summer season. Bookmark it every day and check back. I'm gonna start bring more video to this page again very soon.)

GIMME A SHOUT HERE!

(Actually, gimme a shout for any reason at all!)

.

I'm a lucky man.

If you're new you can always go back and browse through THE ARCHIVE as far back as you wanna go. I mean... thanks to my friend, my webmaster, and resident evil genius James Marino, you can historically go back through this website all the way back through the Bush years right up until the present. It's really kinda freaky how much content is here on this site.... cartoons, free songs, Photoshop images. Very cool.

And the Photo Galleries just keep growing. (Maybe you're in there!!!).

.

AND HERE'S A REALLY FUN GALLERY FROM LAST SUMMER!!!

BTW -- "The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" is booked for Saturday night, December 10th. I know it's early, but I wanted to let you know if you're one of those people who travel down from Buffalo, or in from Pennsylvania, or Maryland, or Germany just for this gig.

The internet has made the world a very small campus and that's a really cool thing. Mostly, if you check back at this website every day, I hope you feel that... "It's Just Us" feeling. You're not alone.

That "Broadway" thing...

Okay now you can find out how YOU can be a part of this new project here.

In a nutshell, we're putting together something that we hope is headed for Broadway or... Jupiter... or... I don't know. But it's gonna be done someplace. Broadway legend, TONY WALTON, a man who has more Tony Awards and Academy Awards than I have socks, is behind it 100%... so now it's just about getting the right team together and working it. I'll be inviting all of you to another one of those small, unplugged work sessions very soon, so keep checking back. The last 2 filled up in a matter of hours.

Here's a little 10-minute video from Tony and his wife... explaining the project.

And here's a link to visit if YOU wanna be a real part of this process.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
