Can I tell you what?

Time flies... and this weekend is Labor Day Weekend.

The first weekend in September. Stretch run in baseball. All year all baseball fans say, "Well, we'll see where we are in September."

Well, The Yankees and The Red Sox have been trading leads in the AL EAST all year. (On paper, I think Boston might have the better team this year, but the Yankees keep finding ways to win. I would hafta say the boys in da Bronx are the over-achievers this year.)

But they were at it again last night and The Yankees ground out a tough win in Fenway Park.

They'll go at it again tonight.

.

Right now I wanna share a NEW song that you're hearing in a TV commercial a lot these days... especially if you watch Yankees games. Last week I posted a youngblood in Denmark named Niklas covering one of my original songs.

Today... I have absolutely NO reason to post this video except I really, really dig this song and this video and it's also coming out of Denmark. (And it's coming straight out of a beer commercial... which is surprising, since to my sensibilities most beer commercials these days are inane, stupid, silly and famous for high-schoolish humor that aims for the lowest common denominator.)

This just makes me move and makes me smile. It's a song called "The Golden Age" by a group outta Denmark called The Asteroids Galaxy Tour. This song cooks. And they tour with a 6-piece brass section. You gotta love that!!!

.

And this Saturday afternoon, I'm gonna be back in Central Park playing a whole lotta songs that I like, and songs that I love, and songs that I wish I wrote... and a whole lotta songs that I DID write.

IN FACT! I'm putting the finishing touches on a brand new song. I always love bringing a brand new song out to The Hill and runnin' it by you guys for the first time. The first rough debut of most songs usually goes by pretty shaky. i mean, it's what I call "gettin' the ya-yas out of it". Just shakin' it loose and see if it works.... and what doesn't feel right about it.

The song is very simply called... "YES"

Sometimes, a song flies from the first moment I release it into the world. That's rare but a great feeling. We'll see what happens with this one on Saturday. For those of you checking in here from different parts of the country and different parts of the world, I'll post a rough demo of it here on Sunday if it works okay on Saturday.

And this Saturday is also the start of LABOR DAY WEEKEND so I'm gonna make the day a little special by doing something that makes the tourists mouths hang open.

The beautiful, talented and supremely cool Teresa Reynolds is gonna join me again.

And I just might have another little musical surprise... another surprise guest that you guys have missed over the past 2 summers. I'll be able to pull some great old songs out of my hat of he shows up.

Maybe I'll drop that new song into this new project and sing it Broadway one of these days. While we're singing and laughin' through this show, it'll certainly be about Love and Reason and Principle. We're still looking of the right person to direct the piece and we could still use some help financially. We've raised about $20,000 for the workshop but could probably use about another $5,000 to get it on it's feet. So... if you're inclined to help (Or you're one of those people who just has too damned much money and wants to put it to good use!) ... this is what we're trying to do. Maybe it's time to reach a larger audience!!!! Maybe on Broadway!

Okay now you can find out how YOU can be a part of this new project here.

In a nutshell, we're putting together something that we hope is headed for Broadway or... Jupiter... or... I don't know. But it's gonna be done someplace. Broadway legend, TONY WALTON, a man who has more Tony Awards and Academy Awards than I have socks, is behind it 100%... so now it's just about getting the right team together and working it. I'll be inviting all of you to another one of those small, unplugged work sessions very soon, so keep checking back. The last 2 filled up in a matter of hours.

Here's a little 10-minute video from Tony and his wife... explaining the project.

And here's a link to visit if YOU wanna be a real part of this process.

Welcome to all you newcomers! WELCOME to you if this is your first time here at the website! I hope you bookmark it and check back every day. It's become a very fun, very under-the-radar little New York Secret. You can always keep up with the cool stuff that's goin' on around me and my music and all the amazing people in this circle of friends and fellow-artists.

You can always go back and browse through THE ARCHIVE as far back as you wanna go. I mean... thanks to my friend, my webmaster, and resident evil genius James Marino, you can historically go back through this website all the way back through the Bush years right up until the present. It's really kinda freaky how much content is here on this site.... cartoons, free songs, Photoshop images. Very cool.

This year's PHOTO GALLERY will include lots of great images from out season inCentral Park.

VIDEO TIME

Here's a fun song... inspired last year by America's fascination with Bristol Palin, an unwed mother and attention hound who was suddenly being called a "star" on a national TV show... a song I wrote and debuted at "The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" last December.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
