If you're checking in to see when and where I'm playing music in Central Park...
SORRY.
.
We weren't issued the Special Events Permit for today. Nothin' I can do about that. But then again... look at the weather. So it's all cool. I'll be back at "The Hill" next Saturday and the last 2 Saturday afternoons in August. Can't wait to see you guys again.
And... one more time, I need to say thank you to all of you and for the hundreds of emails and messages of support that came through this website and the Facebook pages about that nonsense downtown. I can tell you this...
I've been saying all along that the problem was caused by a tiny minority of the people in this town. We just ran into a few of them on Pier 45 in Hudson River Park, and the people who run that park just handled the situation very, very poorly. Hope they've learned something and will do things differently down the road. (Um... probably not. But, I can't really say I care!)

Too many really wonderful things goin' on.
Like BASEBALL the way it oughta be! Yankees v Red Sox last night! Started the series tied for first in the AL East. To my way of thinkin' it's actually great when both teams from both cities are lookin' good in the same year. It's what makes it fun.
And these New Era commercials with Alec Baldwin and John Krasinski are just makin' me smile!!!! Here's the newest one.

Last night -- 2 teams came in with identical records. Both teams played a good, tight ball game... and the Yankees came out on top. They are in sole possession of first place and they go at it again tonight. I think it's gonna be a back & forth horse race all the way until the end of the season.
OKAY to the music!
Here are a few photos from last weekend. Man! We had a blast. Teresa Reynolds was out there sharing the microphone with me again. The man who was Jimmy Buffet's lead guitarist for years, my buddy "Dodger" (Roger Bartlett) sat in on a bunch of songs. Frankie and 7-year old Nicole both sang a song. And I got to look at a couple of thousand shining, smiling faces.

.
All in all... not a bad thing to do with a Saturday afternoon in the most amazing city on the planet.
.
So we'll get out there in one week. I know a lot of you are checking in from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. But if you're gonna be in or around New York City next week, hope I get to spend some time hangin' out with you.
.
HEY LISTEN!!!
Another good thing about all that crap that happened because of just a couple of rude people downtown is that a conversation has started about thoughtfulness and consideration. I was on WABC Radio yesterday and the host of the show wants to have me back on to talk some more... maybe play a few songs. So I'll keep you guys posted. Keep checking back.

Moving on.

What Broadway project?
I'm just about at a new place where this little "Broadway" piece will really begin to come together. Now I'm just in the "dating" process... to find the right director/co-writer/co-creator to bring this thing to life.
Seriously. This is getting exciting.
But then again.... it's what I do. This is the kind of stuff that makes me live. Creating something where there was nothing. Y'know? Following the next inspiration. Taking the next chance. Y'know?
There is no song. Now there's a song.
There is no play. Now... there's a play.
Again, thank you to all of you who participated in the work sessions a few months ago that helped flesh this thing out. The more I run this idea and this project passed other Creative spirits, the more I begin to realize it's potential to say something good. I have a feeling it's time now to find the right person to direct this show. It's gotta be someone who really "gets it" and has an exciting vision for it.
Here's a video from Academy Award-winner Tony Walton and his wife. they "get it" and this guy has more Tony Awards than I have socks!
My feeling is, it's not enough for a show like this to be good... it also oughta be good-for-something.

OKAY... ABOUT THE BROADWAY WORKSHOP!!!!
.
SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?
You are everything. Just like on "The Hill" in Central Park, none of this happens if you don't show up. The 3 most important things we need from you...
1. A generous donation of real money. (Yeah, like everything else... it's gonna take money to actually make it happen.)
2. Your suggestions about what you'd like to see in the show... which songs move you, which make you laugh, which songs and stories you think a Broadway audience will get the most out of and enjoy the most.
3. We need you to take it upon yourself to be a little Paul Revere-ish... take it upon yourself to spread the word about this project every day to friends and family. Make it your own. We need you to come up with Creative ideas to get the word out about this effort.

For you guys again today... the entire concert..."The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" is here for you to watch. Go make a pot of coffee. Pour yourself some tea or a nice glass of wine and sit back and watch this thing. Plug in some headphones or some earbuds if you feel like it. You can actually jump around and watch different parts o the show.
We had such a great time again this year in that theater!
(The audio got a little funky during Teresa Reynolds' Christmas song... but I'm do everything I can to fix that sooner than later. Check back.)

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
