Welcome to all of you who are checking in here for the first time recently. I'm sorry it was because of the nonsense that was started downtown. But I'm glad you're here. And welcome to all of you stopping by from different parts of the country and different parts of the world.

A lot of you are checking in because of that ugliness that happened after I got fired for asking a few parents to show a little consideration to the fellow audience-members around them at an outdoor gig, by asking their children... um... NOT to run around other people's blankets or do cartwheels into other people's heads! I never though it would all get the reaction it got. But I'm feelin' good about the amazing response I received from so many people. The numbers on this website went off the charts. And perhaps the most encouraging thing was the number of good parents who wrote in support of me.

See? A lot of people "get it"... and have kinda had it with rude, unthinking parents in public places.

Moving on!

Listen, I'm the guy who has a song on his most recent CD called "This Moment". It basically celebrates my attitude that time does not exist -- that we live in an eternal, perpetual and incomprehensible moment of... NOW.

Still, as human beings we try our best to makes sense of the incomprehensible by marking eternity with something called "time"... with things like minutes, and hours and days. We mark each trip around the Sun and call it a year. Maybe looking backward it gives us a way to file our memories, and looking forward it keeps our sense of "starting over" new and fresh. Maybe it keeps hope alive. (Damn! Can I reference any more of my own songs in one paragraph?)

Ha! I'm saying all this because... DAMN! I'm glad it's a new week!!!

And in just 7 days I'll be heading back home to "The Hill" in Central Park to put my guitar on my shoulder and share and afternoon of music and laughs with a whole bunch of beautiful people.

.

Now... before we get to the music stuff, gotta mention once again that The New York Yankees and The Boston Red Sox are doin' what they do -- playin' each other hard. This is the best rivalry in all of American sports.

Sure, like I always say... baseball is in "The Toy Department of Life"... but it's fun. And last night, Boston beat the Yankees in game 2 of the mid-season series so they're tied for first place... again.

.

Okay, y'know what?

I think I might just make a few songs available as FREE downloads today for no particular reason. Some funny songs. Some pointed songs.

So here... here are a few tracks for you to download for free.

The Religion Song

Where's the Voice

Tom Cruise Scares Me

Lost on Bleecker Street

Wedding in Danville

Um.... if you're new around here, take a few minutes to it the ARCHIVE and browse through the site. There are lots of really fun Photoshop images, FREE songs to download, all kindsa stuff.

A PHOTO

I shared this on Facebook the other day, but I thought I'd share it again today for any newcomers. I'm so glad you guys show up here at the website and that you've hung out with me in Central Park over the years. And I think it's so cool that I've met the fellow artists I've met along the road. Before we get into today's update, I just wanna share... a photo that was taken by publicist Laura Manske just this past Saturday that pretty much tells the story of how proud I am to be sharing a microphone with Miss Teresa Reynolds.

.

Yep. She's one of the good ones fo' sho.

This might be my favorite photo from Central Park in a long while. Actually, if you look at the expression on my face in this photo, it's probably pretty much the same every time I share a stage with Teresa... or George Wurzbach, or Ryan Cavan, or Nelson Montana, Dave Marcus, Chris Tedesco, or Dodger Bartlett. I mean it. What a feeling of gratitude I get every time I get to make music and have some laughs with people like this. In fact, in regard to this Broadway project I always say that if a door ever opens for me, I'm gonna stick my foot in it and we're all gonna scoot through!

Moving on.

.

Okay... about the Broadway Project.

I'm just about at a new place where this little "Broadway" piece will really begin to come together. Now I'm just in the "dating" process... to find the right director/co-writer/co-creator to bring this thing to life.

Seriously. This is getting exciting.

But then again.... it's what I do. This is the kind of stuff that makes me live. Creating something where there was nothing. Y'know? Following the next inspiration. Taking the next chance. Y'know?

There is no song. Now there's a song.

There is no play. Now... there's a play.

Again, thank you to all of you who participated in the work sessions a few months ago that helped flesh this thing out. The more I run this idea and this project passed other Creative spirits, the more I begin to realize it's potential to say something good. I have a feeling it's time now to find the right person to direct this show. It's gotta be someone who really "gets it" and has an exciting vision for it.

Here's a video from Academy Award-winner Tony Walton and his wife. they "get it" and this guy has more Tony Awards than I have socks!

My feeling is, it's not enough for a show like this to be good... it also oughta be good-for-something.

We'll see. We have work to do.

Anyway, y'know what? I already added the photos from yesterday and the day before to the BIG photo gallery. This year's PHOTO GALLERY includes of great images from out in Central Park.

OKAY... ABOUT THE BROADWAY WORKSHOP!!!!

.

SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?

You are everything. Just like on "The Hill" in Central Park, none of this happens if you don't show up. The 3 most important things we need from you...

1. A generous donation of real money. (Yeah, like everything else... it's gonna take money to actually make it happen.)

2. Your suggestions about what you'd like to see in the show... which songs move you, which make you laugh, which songs and stories you think a Broadway audience will get the most out of and enjoy the most.

3. We need you to take it upon yourself to be a little Paul Revere-ish... take it upon yourself to spread the word about this project every day to friends and family. Make it your own. We need you to come up with Creative ideas to get the word out about this effort.

.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
