Hey guys... the wildest thing has happened this afternoon.
Parks Department Borough Commissioner, William T. Castro, has determined that ALL Special Events Permits have to be terminated by 2:00 tomorrow afternoon.
(I guess they might be trying to get the park ready for Irene. I honestly have no idea what I'm talking about... but either way, our permit has been suspended as of 2pm tomorrow.)
.
.
SO... IRENE'S FIRST METROPOLITAN CASUALTY!
NO MUSIC IN THE PARK TOMORROW!
Won't it be a kick in the head if the Sun comes out for most of the day!!!!
.
Well, everything I wrote up until this point is now irrelevant. It's not up to Mother Nature. And it's not up to me. This decision came from the Parks Department.
All cool.
They're likely to have a HUGE job on their hands in the wake of all the rain and wind coming through here in about 48 hours. I hope there isn't too much damage to some of those 100+ year-old trees in that beautiful park. This might be a good time to throw a few dollars at the Central Park Conservancy if you can spare it! And then I'll just let you guys know about a make-up day as soon as they let me know.
Cool?
.
Last Saturday -- we had another amazing day. Teresa Reynolds surprised me by getting back to town on time to head out to the park and sing with me. Always, always very cool.

Oh hey... y'know what!?
I would really, really appreciate it if you guys took one more look at THIS UPDATE and if you can, threw a little something at this effort. The response hasn't been as wonderful as I'd hoped it would be. but of course, I understand that times is hard for everybody right now.
Click on this banner to check out a VERY special update...
something I think you will feel really good about being a part of.
Then...
Would you click here and give whatever you can? We're using the link to "The Permit Fund" to make it easy.
We'll just use the same method as the "Permit Fund" okay? And we'll get the money to Dodger as soon as we can. $5 or $25... or $100. Whatever is cool for you. We can jump all over this, so I'm just gonna leave this up for this week. I'll throw what I can into the fund, but it would make my heart sing if I wasn't alone.
(Hey listen... seriously. Don't feel bad if you can't give or if you just don't wanna. I completely understand. But if you can, it would be great!)
David, what is it that you really wanna do with your Life and your music?
.
This is basically what I told him.
"I'd like to continue to do exactly what I'm doing right now. I wanna write the same songs and say the same things I'm saying. I wanna tell the same stories to let people know they're not alone. I wanna work with the same wonderful artists and hang with the same wonderful people I have in my Life now. I wanna do exactly what I'm doing right now. I just wanna do it...
... for a few million more people."
.
Make sense?
So there are 2 projects a handful of us are kickin' around. We sure would like the help of some professionals in both fields and we're actually seeking producers for both and a director for the Broadway project.
I always say that when you do what you love for a living, when you do what I do for a living, every day of a Life is a vacation day and every day is a work day. So Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Dean Love just went down to The Village this week with a coupld of friends to begin shooting the pitch video for an idea we've been kickin' around. It's an interactive, web-series called "THERE". (More about that very soon.)
The other project is this new Broadway show, tentatively called "Possibility Junkie". I'm gonna talk about this a little bit more tomorrow in the park if we get out there. I really feel that it's time to take the whole feeling we get in Central Park to a much larger audience. I'm just about to enter a new place where this little "Broadway" piece will really begin to come together. Now I'm just in the "dating" process... to find the right producers to make it a reality... and the right director/co-writer and creative producers to bring this thing to life.
Seriously. This is getting exciting. But then again... it's what I do. This is the kind of stuff that makes me live.
In a nutshell, we're putting together something that we hope is headed for Broadway or... Jupiter... or... I don't know. But it's gonna be done someplace. Broadway legend, TONY WALTON, a man who has more Tony Awards and Academy Awards than I have socks, is behind it 100%... so now it's just about getting the right team together and working it.
Here's a little 10-minute video from Tony and his wife... explaining the project.

Are you new here to this website? Now, you might be one of the people who's checking in here for the first time. (There are always a bunch of newcomers here at the site, especially in the Summer season. Bookmark it every day and check back. I'm gonna start bring more video to this page again very soon.)
If you're new you can always go back and browse through THE ARCHIVE as far back as you wanna go. I mean... thanks to my friend, my webmaster, and resident evil genius James Marino, you can historically go back through this website all the way back through the Bush years right up until the present. It's really kinda freaky how much content is here on this site.... cartoons, free songs, Photoshop images. Very cool.
And the Photo Galleries just keep growing. (Maybe you're in there!!!).

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
