July was quite a month. Ultimately wonderful, but kind of a bumpy ride. So many really cool things went down that I'll remember for a long, long time. Some not so cool, but y'know... that's Life. We had another "Hot Dog Day" in Central Park. Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Dean Love was out there with his camera this month. The BROADWAY project suffered a little, disappointing setback, but I'm sure it's all for the best. We had another day with those young cats from all over the country in that group called ETGAR. I got to make some great music and have some big laughs with Teresa Reynolds and Roger Bartlett... and our friend "Frankie" sang for the first time. I was joined at the microphone by friends Margo and Nelson and even Mr. Sid Bernstein sang on a bunch of songs. We sang a few new songs downtown and laughed hard at at least one beautiful sunset in The Village... before I got my ass canned for no good reason! Ha! It was a ride!
And so... here comes August.
Let me fill you guys in on the schedule a little bit.
Because we're not playing the Sun down anymore on Friday nights, and because I wasn't issued the permit for next Saturday in Central Park, I'm NOT gonna see you guys for two weeks. The next day I can put my guitar on my shoulder by The Lake is Saturday, August 13th.
Sorry. There's really nothing I can do about that. But y'know? I'm gonna take this 2 weeks and fill it them with as much Life and as much Good work as I can. I've got a lot to do.
Before I get into all that... let me post another bunch of photos that publicist Laura Manske sent in from this past Saturday.

What a great day! More photos tomorrow!
A really, really wonderful day... for so many reasons. And I think I woke up this morning with one of those little personal revelations -- one of those moments of... "Ohhhh!" ...that I sometimes talk about or sing about in my songs. So, today is another amazing day if I live it that way.
I'm gonna definitely get some video up here in the next few days, so make sure you check back all week.
OH, OH, Oh... and call a friend and make plans to come to this thing on Wednesday, August 16th. I mean it. You'll feel so good that you did. So call a friend.... y'know... today or this week and then call this number to reserve a spot.
Seriously, this is one of those things I love to do and nobody makes a nickle of profit from it. It's just a bunch of beautiful people to get behind and I've been playing music for them for a few years now. Baseline Wheelchair Tennis.
And then come back here and click on this banner, make a phone call and reserve a spot at this really amazing event.

Bob Waldman is the man at the helm of this event. Good guy. You can see him on my album cover "I Love the Company"! Give him a call and make sure you get a ticket to this thing. (And bring some friends!)

Hell, it's a Wednesday night and it's over by 8:30!!! And honestly... as much as I appreciated all the supportive and positive email I got last week, it will really do my heart good and make me smile to see you guys showing up for something like this!
.
And I wanna say a special thanks to the Marriott Courtyard Hotel on East 92nd Street for donating a couple of rooms for the tennis players who are flying in for this event. You guys at that Marriott ROCK! (And thank Laura Manske for settin' that up.)
Welcome to all you newcomers! WELCOME to you if this is your first time here at the website! I hope you bookmark it and check back every day. It's become a very fun, very under-the-radar little New York Secret. You can always keep up with the cool stuff that's goin' on around me and my music and all the amazing people in this circle of friends and fellow-artists.
You can always go back and browse through THE ARCHIVE as far back as you wanna go. I mean... thanks to my friend, my webmaster, and resident evil genius James Marino, you can historically go back through this website all the way back through the Bush years right up until the present. It's really kinda freaky how much content is here on this site.... cartoons, free songs, Photoshop images. Very cool.

NOW! About that "Broadway" thang!
Maybe it's time to reach a larger audience!!!! Maybe on Broadway!
In a nutshell, we're putting together something that we hope is headed for Broadway or... Jupiter... or... I don't know. But it's gonna be done someplace. Broadway legend, TONY WALTON, a man who has more Tony Awards and Academy Awards than I have socks, is behind it 100%... so now it's just about getting the right team together and working it. I'll be inviting all of you to another one of those small, unplugged work sessions very soon, so keep checking back. The last 2 filled up in a matter of hours.
Here's a little 10-minute video from Tony and his wife... explaining the project.
Here's another beautiful moment on a hot, hot summer afternoon in Central Park when a girl named Frankie asked me if she could sing a great George Harrison song for the crowd. One of the things that really touched was the way a few hundred people sounded... so gently singing "do-do-do-doo" to help out in the sweetest way.

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
