Seriously, were you out there? This is the 20th year I've been "That Guitar Man from Central Park" and so you think I might get used to the coolness of what happens out there... the spontaneity, the warmth, the fun, the laughs, the golden moments. But I never take it for granted. I'm kind of amazed by it every time.
Teresa Reynolds was out there singin' her heart out again. A girl named Frankie sang "Here Comes the Sun". I got to hang out with really beautiful people from all around the world. And... WE HAD HOT DOG DAY!!!
And I understand that New York-1 is running that nice little story by their arts reporter, Stephanie Simon, about this being my 20th year in the park. Someone just texted me and told me it was airing again. If you're one of the people checking in from a different part of the country or a different part of the world...

Very cool.
Here are the first batch of photos from yesterday through the lens of publicist Laura Manske who was back on "The Hill" yesterday. So here are just a few from this weekend to get us started. I'll post more all week and eventually they'll end up in the BIG gallery.

I'M GONNA HAVE A SPECIAL UPDATE WITH A PERSONAL COMMENT TOMORROW FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY. And then I'll be back on Tuesday with MORE photos of you guys who were with me this weekend!!! So check back for both.

OH, and that new song that Teresa and I sang together? What do you think?
Y'know, honestly -- what a very cool thing it is I get to do with my Life and my music. I'm so, so grateful to every single one of you who are reading this right now... every single person who's ever hung out with me even once in that park. It means so much to me to know that there are people who "get" what my music and my stories have to say to the world. It reminds me... I guess, it reminds all of us that we're not alone and that there are others who "get it".
Y'know what? I always say that when you do what you love for a living, when you do what I do for a living, every day of a Life is a vacation day and every day is a work day. So I think filmmaker Dean Love and I are gonna shoot a pitch video for an idea we've been kickin' around for an interactive, internet TV show called "THERE". But besides that... I'm gonna take it real easy for a couple of days.
Now, recently I've met with a handful of wonderful, Creative people who were interested in directing the workshop of the new stage project. All of them are amazing people and all of them are artists with whom I'd like to work. But I kinda new right away, from the moment I met with this one person, that she was the right person to direct this new project. I plan to meet with Holly-Anne Ruggeiro again as soon as she's finished opening the musical "Okahoma" in Boston. She might even make it out to "the Hill" a week from now next Saturday afternoon. Lookin' forward to that. As soon as I meet with her again, and I introduce her to George Wurzbach, and maybe set up a meeting with her and Tony Walton... I'm gonna introduce you guys to her. I've been holding off booking the next work session until I had an idea if this wonderful woman was on board for the ride. It looks like she is. So I'll let you guys know when you can reserve a seat at that thing if you wanna be a part of this development process. (The last 2 work sessions filled up in about 4 hours!)
In a nutshell, we're putting together something that we hope is headed for Broadway or... Jupiter... or... I don't know. But it's gonna be done someplace. Broadway legend, TONY WALTON, a man who has more Tony Awards and Academy Awards than I have socks, is behind it 100%... so now it's just about getting the right team together and working it. I'll be inviting all of you to another one of those small, unplugged work sessions very soon, so keep checking back. The last 2 filled up in a matter of hours.
Here's a little 10-minute video from Tony and his wife... explaining the project.
But for today... I'm just gonna kick back and hold onto that feeling I brought home with me from Central Park yesterday.

For you guys again today... the entire concert..."The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" is here for you to watch. Go make a pot of coffee. Pour yourself some tea or a nice glass of wine and sit back and watch this thing. Plug in some headphones or some earbuds if you feel like it. You can actually jump around and watch different parts o the show.
We had such a great time again this year in that theater!
(The audio got a little funky during Teresa Reynolds' Christmas song... but I'm do everything I can to fix that sooner than later. Check back.)

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
