That situation with the Special Events Permits has worked out. Everything's cool.
So we're cool to hang together in Central Park tomorrow. (It's also lookin' like the weather is gonna cooperate fully!)
I'll be heading out there about 12:30 and play until around 5:00. Good?

If you're brand new here and you wanna find us tomorrow in our little 843 acre backyard, I'll post a map tomorrow right here at the website.
So here we go. Another beautiful weekend in the middle of the most amazing city on the planet. I already have a really, really good feeling about tomorrow. All the signs are lining up. Y'know? the new equipment is all broken in and I'm kinda used to it. The weather's lookin' great. That Sarah Palin Circus has left town. (Okay, we're left with Trump, but here in New York we've been ignoring him for generations.)
But listen.... I'll get to today's update, but first I have to brief all of you about something really, really important.
I'm afraid I've been hacked.
Are you following me on Twitter? I've just become aware that a photo has been Tweeted to people who are following me, among them some young women who follow me and know of my work as "That Guitar Man from Central Park". Now... you want to ask me, "Did you send that photo?" Let me say this. It appears to be a prank.... or a distraction from the work I need to be doing. I will get to the bottom of this. (No pun intended.)

Look, people expect me to write songs and sing them. They expect me to help them smile and make them laugh sometimes. I don't have time to treat this as anything more than a distraction from that work right now.
Okay... I know. You're asking, "But David. Is that your ass in the photo?"
I cannot say with certitude that it is not my ass. I mean, I don't recognize it as my ass. It could be my ass. But it is possible nowadays to manipulate photos to look like one thing or another. I just want to move on.
"But David... how can you NOT know that it is your ass? That is beyond plausibility."
I'm not saying it isn't my ass. I'm just saying that we have more important things to think about. I'm happy to speak frankly about it. But... hey!!! Look over there! Isn't that a monkey eating a knish?
.
Okay, listen if you still wanna follow me on Twitter, you can click on that link over there on the right of this page. I'm sure there will be more embarrassing shit there in the coming weeks.
.
BTW -- this season I'm gonna keep a running photo gallery going here at the website. So no matter where in the country or where in the world you live, if you were out there hangin' with me over the first two weekends, you can check this gallery now and see if you're shining face is in there.
Here's the link to this year's gallery so far.

I KNOW IT'S EARLY -- but the "year end concert" is booked for Saturday night, December 10th. I wanted to let you know if you're one of those people who travel down from Buffalo, or in from Pennsylvania, or Maryland, or Germany, or wherever just for this gig.
And as always, if you're lookin' for a whole bunch of photos to see what it is we do out in Central Park every year... if you're new here and you need a little catchin' up... for any newcomers, you can check out this little Photo Gallery from last summer's outdoor season... in Central Park and down on Pier 45 in the Village.

You can always hit THE ARCHIVE and catch up with what's been going on.

So yes. The Permit Office and it looks like we're good to go for tomorrow and then again on the 18th and the 25th. Got the actual paperwork from them and the Sound Device Permit from the NYPD so we're all set... depending on the weather, of course. And the weather's lookin' great.
Good?
Yeah, yeah gonna miss June 11th with you guys at "The Hill". But we have an alternative as it works out. It's kinda cool the way this works out. Next week we begin "The Sunset Concert Series 2011" on Friday night June 10th. (More about that later this week.)

OKAY!!!! Now about the newest project!!!!
In a nutshell, we're putting together something that we hope is headed for Broadway or... Jupiter... or... I don't know. But it's gonna be done someplace. Broadway legend, TONY WALTON, a man who has more Tony Awards and Academy Awards than I have socks, is behind it 100%... so now it's just about getting the right team together and working it. I'll be inviting all of you to another one of those small, unplugged work sessions very soon, so keep checking back. The last 2 filled up in a matter of hours.
Here's a little 10-minute video from Tony and his wife... explaining the project.
WATCH THESE VIDEOS IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY -- and then shoot me an email to tell me if you think they might become a part of the story.

I'm really enjoying all of your comments about the newest songs, so keep 'em comin'! This was the LIVE debut of this next song in December here in NYC.
For you guys again today... the entire concert..."The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" is here for you to watch. Go make a pot of coffee. Pour yourself some tea or a nice glass of wine and sit back and watch this thing. Plug in some headphones or some earbuds if you feel like it. You can actually jump around and watch different parts o the show.
We had such a great time again this year in that theater!
(The audio got a little funky during Teresa Reynolds' Christmas song... but I'm do everything I can to fix that sooner than later. Check back.)

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
