Well, the world didn't end last Saturday.

BUT I WATCHED BIBLE-TEACHER HAROLD CAMPING ON HIS SHOW LAST NIGHT.... AND THE OLD SHIT IS NOT BACKING DOWN!!!! He invited the news media into his studio and my mouth hung open for an hour.

I'll get into this a little more this week. But now he's saying that he was right about the 5-month period beginning on May 21, but the earthquakes and destruction and hell on earth is ALL gonna happen on the last day... October 21.

I watched his "Open Forum" LIVE last night the first airing. But then during the re-broadcast the signal kept getting interrupted as the press was asking questions. I can only hope someone with an ounce of sense is pulling the plug on this nut.

Now, of course I'm a fan of human beings. I often say that I think we are the silliest creatures on the face of the earth and the most magnificent beings in the Universe. We are capable of such cruelty and such foolishness. But we are also capable of creating such beauty, and committing such incredible acts of kindness and Love.

Still, I'm tellin' you -- this man to me represents, in cartoon-like proportions, the undeniable arrogance and delusion of ALL the religions of the world. Christianity, Judaism, Islam... you're all out of your fucking minds.

"Writing" this stuff is difficult to do without coming across as angry. I'm actually smiling on the verge of laughing as I type this. But with no humility, no reason, no sense... all religions think they can not only say WHAT a god is, but also what we're all doing here, how we should live and that THEY know the mind of this "god".

When is somebody gonna throw a net over freaks like this, Camping, before he hurts more people. And when is the human race going to realize that "religion" is at the root of more human suffering and division than any other disease the human race is responsible for creating. Priests... Rabbis... Mullahs... you're all nuts.

Institutionalized religion is a man-made disease. I'm just sayin'. Be kind to each other, for cryin' out loud. Let's do our best to just be cool to each other. It's not easy. WE'RE HUMAN! But the Love in the human heart is my god. Music is my god. Laughter is my god. Kindness is my god. "Possibility" is my god.

You guys are all my god. After that... I go to the church of "I don't have a fucking clue!"

So, Jesus didn't come back on Saturday. But now we've got until October 21. Then it's the end of the whole Universe according to The Bible.

SO -- I just went ahead and began my 20th season as "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I really hafta say, I've been putting my guitar on my shoulder and standing by The Lake for 20 Summers. I usually say, "Y'know? That's either a really cool, really wonderful thing.... or it's actually kinda pathetic!"

But y'know what?

That's a joke. I honestly feel like the luckiest man alive. Who gets to do what I do?

I mean, I've been writing songs and singing them for people for an entire generation here in the most amazing city on the planet. There are no agents, no record label, no blah-blah-blah.

It's just us.

And so... I have a feeling it's gonna be another great season. I'm f*cking glad the world isn't ending any time soon.

Speaking of that...

Here are a few more photos from Opening Day at "The Hill" in Central Park this past Saturday. (That sweet man with the silver hair is Sid Bernstein, the man who brought The Beatles to America.)

I think this year I'm gonna start the Photo Gallery early. In the past I've usually posted all the photos from the summer at the end of the season. But I might as well start a special page now so that you can always go back and check to see if you're shining face was captured by the camera of publicist Laura Manske or one of the other people who send photos into the site. If you've got photos you wanna submit, just hit the contact button over there and send them along.

I'm a lucky man.

Actually, it's an amazing ride. And Now after 20 years of being "That Guitar Man from Central Park" a bunch of friends and colleagues have convinced me that it's time to try to tell a story in a whole new way for a much larger audience.

I'd love it if YOU wanted to be a very real part of this project. I'll be telling you more about it all week. We're getting ready to do another LIVE work session for this project and if you're gonna be in town you might be able to sit in for FREE. (More about that in a minute.)

First...

TODAY, once again let me share the video from Academy Award-winner Tony Walton and his wife.

We're trying to put a theatrical piece together that, hopefully, will be a positive thing.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
