Well, if everything goes the way I think it's gonna go weather-wise, I'm gonna pack up my guitar and head on out to Central Park for the afternoon today.
I don't care if it's JUDGMENT DAY according to some people. I don't care if Jesus is coming back for a return engagement. I don't care if the "chosen people" are being caught up all around town. (Although, this being New York... maybe not so many!)
I'll go right to a spot right by The Lake on the west side about even with 75th Street, a little north of Strawberry Fields... just little uptown from the Dakota and the 72 Street entrance... and I'll start off the day by playing a sweet James Taylor song. I'll betcha there will probably be a handful people hangin' out on "The Hill" when I get there, maybe 5 or 10. So I'll just ask them what songs they wanna here and maybe I'll try out a few new songs I've written over the winter. Then we'll see where the day and the music lead us. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing they lead to an amazing place filled with smiles and laughs and surprises and uniquely New York experiences. I'm guessing that by the end of the day that little hill will be a meeting place for hundreds and hundreds of beautiful people.
Maybe it will be just a few people all day... maybe it will be a thousand people. But again, I'm guessing that I'm gonna have myself an amazing day doing exactly what I feel I'm meant to be doing on this particular day.
Why do I think this is a pretty good guess?
'Cause I've done this before. This is the 20th year people have called me "That Guitar Man from Central Park".
I'm a very lucky man!

If this is the first time you're checking out the site because it's later in the day and you were hangin' with me today, be sure to bookmark this page and check back every day. there's always a lot of cool shit happening here. You can always hit THE ARCHIVE and catch up with what's been going on.
Now earlier this week I did a couple of updates about the people who are claiming that the Bible is predicting that TODAY is Judgment Day signalling the end of the world. You can read those update's here if you feel like it. It's kind of fascinating to me on many levels. In fact, I'm kinda hoping that, if he does show up, I can talk him into sitting in on a few songs.
But if you're reading this right now, I'm guessing that Jesus didn't show up for a return engagement today. (So I'm not gonna waste any time today on those poor people. I'll catch up with them this week to see what they think happens next, though!)
After 20 years of being "That Guitar Man from Central Park" it's time to tell the story in a whole new way for a much larger audience.
TODAY, once again let me share the video from Academy Award-winner Tony Walton and his wife.
We're trying to put a theatrical piece together that, hopefully, will be a positive thing.

I'm really enjoying all of your comments about the newest songs, so keep 'em comin'! This was the LIVE debut of this next song in December here in NYC.
For you guys again today... the entire concert..."The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" is here for you to watch. Go make a pot of coffee. Pour yourself some tea or a nice glass of wine and sit back and watch this thing. Plug in some headphones or some earbuds if you feel like it. You can actually jump around and watch different parts o the show.
We had such a great time again this year in that theater!
(The audio got a little funky during Teresa Reynolds' Christmas song... but I'm do everything I can to fix that sooner than later. Check back.)

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
