I recently wrote a song that made it's debut at "The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" last December. It's called "My Stupid country"

I've actually gotten email from people who are upset by this silly, but factually accurate song. There have also been some less-than-understanding comments on the YouTube page. I honestly get a kick out of most of the negative mail I've received over the years for different reasons. One thing I can say in defense of this particular song... I never said ours was the only stupid country!!!
Look what's going on across the pond in the UK.

And this f*ckin' jackass is everywhere!

BUT -- since everyone in the American "news" media is talking about a royal wedding this week, I thought I'd post something really fun that an artist did with something called "Royal Wedding" back in 1951.
In the film "Royal Wedding", the incomparable Fred Astaire dances with a coat rack... and as usual, he made his partner look good.

Okay...
Today, just like yesterday, it's all about editing the audio portion of the theater-piece I'm working on... the voice-over lines from the inimitable Sid Bernstein. It's gonna be a lot of work... but a lot of fun.
I kinda got a little sidetracked yesterday, clearing the decks to get in the right place to do the best work.
I finished a rough video-storyboard which was the direct result of the 2 work sessions I did in those little theaters downtown over the past 2 weeks. From the looks of it, this little "Broadway" piece is really beginning to come together.
Seriously. This is getting exciting. I have a feeling it's time now for the "Dating Process" to begin... I mean... to start looking for the right person to direct this show. It's gotta be someone who really "gets it" and has an exciting vision for it.
Here's a video from Academy Award-winner Tony Walton and his wife.
We're trying to put a theatrical piece together that, hopefully, will be a positive thing.

I wanna welcome everyone who's checking in from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. Here in New York City, me and a circle of friends and artists are kickin' around an idea for a theater piece that many think oughta try to find it's way to Broadway. Maybe it'll be better served as a looser, smaller off-Broadway gig.
We'll see.
Y'know what? For any newcomers, let's start off with a little Photo Gallery from last summer's outdoor season... in Central Park and down on Pier 45 in the Village.

OKAY... ABOUT THE WORKSHOP!!!!
.
SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?
You are everything. Just like on "The Hill" in Central Park, none of this happens if you don't show up. The 3 most important things we need from you...
1. A generous donation of real money. (Yeah, like everything else... it's gonna take money to actually make it happen.)
2. Your suggestions about what you'd like to see in the show... which songs move you, which make you laugh, which songs and stories you think a Broadway audience will get the most out of and enjoy the most.
3. We need you to take it upon yourself to be a little Paul Revere-ish... take it upon yourself to spread the word about this project every day to friends and family. Make it your own. We need you to come up with Creative ideas to get the word out about this effort.

I'm really enjoying all of your comments about the newest songs, so keep 'em comin'! This was the LIVE debut of this next song in December here in NYC.
For you guys again today... the entire concert..."The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" is here for you to watch. Go make a pot of coffee. Pour yourself some tea or a nice glass of wine and sit back and watch this thing. Plug in some headphones or some earbuds if you feel like it. You can actually jump around and watch different parts o the show.
We had such a great time again this year in that theater!
(The audio got a little funky during Teresa Reynolds' Christmas song... but I'm do everything I can to fix that sooner than later. Check back.)

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
