Hi... welcome to the website. Spring is here in New York City and I'm gettin' ready to begin to kick of season #20 in Central Park. I'm also really jazzed about this new theatrical project I'm up-to-my-neck in. It's all sooooo cool.

BTW -- In yesterday's update I posted a photo of a lightning strike in the distance above Yankee Stadium, from the Sunday night game that I was at with a friend of mine. The photo was sent to me from a friend of the website.
Today, I wanna come clean and tell you... that photo was not from the game the other night. When the storm hit, I had commented that nobody in the left field bleachers even moved -- even as the rain fell, the left field bleachers were full. My friend Andrea even commented, "And those are metal seats out there!"
Well, looking at the photo last night, I noticed that the bleachers are empty in the photo I posted. So I don't know when that photo was taken. No big deal. The lightning was spectacular and the hail really did bop us on the head. Just wanna keep things on this website clean.
TODAY'S THOUGHT
Just to let some of you know... you're not alone.
Y'know?
I was thinkin' yesterday. (I know. I know. Always a little bit dangerous.)
Well, first let me welcome everyone from across the country and different parts fo the world. And to all of those stopping by here who live in The UK I wanna say right up front... um... no offense.... but...
About 235 years ago, we had us a big revolution. Pretty big deal. Lots a shooting and stuff. It happened at a time in human history called The Enlightenment or The Age of Reason. It was called that primarily because it was a time when people began to question or even abandon the mythology of most institutionalized religious faith and adherence to concepts like divinely ordained royalty as a rational or reasonable system of government. (I don't know if a lot of Americans remember it or know what it was all about. But it was a pretty big deal. I'm sure it was in all the papers!)
ANYWAY!
You're not alone of you're shaking your head every time you see another story in the American "news" media about the upcoming royal wedding. Actually... almost every time I see that kid William or his girlfriend's face on my screen, the same words enter my consciousness...

Maybe it's because I actually had rough time in the British media after I met the Queen a couple of years ago. They really tore me a new one in the British press. (Who knew there was all kinds of protocol and proper behavior when you meet the woman. I was just being me. They got all bent out of shape.)
I thought the ol' girl would enjoy it!
The point being...
I think reasonable people once had a revolution to be done with all this royalty crap.
(sigh)
AH!
Before I get to the big, new project... here's a song for today!

Okay, now... about developing that show for the stage.
So, many cool people. So much enthusiasm about this idea. (Hell, after hangin' with all of you in Central Park for 20 years, I guess an idea like this was bound to come along.)
HERE WATCH THE VIDEO!!!!
Here's an Academy Award-winner, an Emmy Award-winner, a man who's won several Tony Awards... and his lovely wife to explain!

SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?
You are everything. Just like on "The Hill" in Central Park, none of this happens if you don't show up. The 3 most important things we need from you...
1. A generous donation of real money. (Yeah, like everything else... it's gonna take money to actually make it happen.)
2. Your suggestions about what you'd like to see in the show... which songs move you, which make you laugh, which songs and stories you think a Broadway audience will get the most out of and enjoy the most.
3. We need you to take it upon yourself to be a little Paul Revere-ish... take it upon yourself to spread the word about this project every day to friends and family. Make it your own. We need you to come up with Creative ideas to get the word out about this effort.

I'm really enjoying all of your comments about the newest songs, so keep 'em comin'! This was the LIVE debut of this next song in December here in NYC.
For you guys again today... the entire concert..."The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" is here for you to watch. Go make a pot of coffee. Pour yourself some tea or a nice glass of wine and sit back and watch this thing. Plug in some headphones or some earbuds if you feel like it. You can actually jump around and watch different parts o the show.
We had such a great time again this year in that theater!
(The audio got a little funky during Teresa Reynolds' Christmas song... but I'm do everything I can to fix that sooner than later. Check back.)

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
