Welcome to the website!

Wanna welcome everyone here in New York City, and all of you checking in from a different part of the country or a different part of the world.

Havin' a lot of fun with this new project I'm workin' on these days for a potential trip to Broadway. I'm hoping that YOU might wanna be a part of the whole thing in a very real way. (More about that in a minute.) And I'm also lookin' forward to beginning my 20th season as "That Guitar Man from Central Park" in just about a month from now. But let's begin today with a brand new fake commercial spot from another one of our fake sponsors who support this website and the music in the most genuinely fake way.

If you're new here you might wanna take a few minutes to browse the ARCHIVE to see what's been going on around here -- AND take just a minute to look through the photo gallery from last year's outdoor season in both Central Park and at "The Sunset Concert Series" in Hudson River Park.

Okay... the new project.

Y'know?

I was thinkin' that it would be best to keep this whole process a little bit in the dark until we're ready to do the actual workshop. But just for today I thought I'd give you guys a preview of a few songs and just a little taste of one of the moments in the show.

Now, of course the entire band will be on stage and a part of this really fun ride. But these little work session we did over the last 2 weeks were just acoustic, unplugged run-throughs of some ideas and possibilities. This little 10-minute video might give you a rough idea of where we're going with some of the more defined moments.

THIS WAS FROM THE APRIL 2nd WORK SESSION.

Get the idea?

Hope you guys wanna be a part of this project. Keep checking back and I'll let you know where and when the actual "workshop" is gonna be.

Again -- thank you to all of you who showed up at the theater to be a part of the audience. You were truly of enormous help. (Special thanks to the people who randomly got seated on the stage and wound up in that impromptu moment of stage blocking!)

The most important thing I learned from some of the comments I heard on the way out of the theater the other night... is that this piece has already got something to say. It's got heart. It's got "balls" already and I think it's gonna be a very cool, and a very fun thing. Now, it is not possible for everyone to "get" a message or the feeling an artist wants to get across in a piece of work. And if something like this makes some people uncomfortable... well, that's a very good thing, too. Y'know?

If most people smile, laugh, sing, relate and are comforted by a music theater piece like the kind I want to create, that's a good thing. But if others who live in a specific reality are made to think, or even squirm a little...then I'm definitely doing my job.

Here's a link to the IndieGoGo page where we're still trying to raise the money to pull this thing off.

Moving on!

We'll be starting an "outdoor season" in Central Park for the 20th summer in a row in just about a month.

And yes! Last week I sent in the contract with Hudson River Park for this year's "Sunset concert Series" on Pier 45 at in The Village. So yeah, from June until August we'll play the Sun down in the west. Gonna be sweet. I love this town!

THE (entire) DECEMBER CONCERT

For you guys again today... the entire concert... "The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" is here for you to watch. Go make a pot of coffee. Pour yourself some tea or a nice glass of wine and sit back and watch this thing. Plug in some headphones or some earbuds if you feel like it. You can actually jump around and watch different parts o the show.

We had such a great time again this year in that theater!

(The audio got a little funky during Teresa Reynolds' Christmas song... but I'm do everything I can to fix that sooner than later. Check back.)

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
