Man!

March 15

"Beware the ides of March"

Never mind all that Shakespear stuff. It just hit me today that the month of March is already half over. Man! Time flies. It really does. I guess living in the moment they way I do, it's easy to miss the fact that moments are flying from the present into memory as instantly as we live them.

Hey listen... I look at the stats on this page and I notice that every so often there is a little spike in the newcomers. If you're new around here... welcome. It's cool that so many of you are stopping by from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. The world is getting to be a very small campus.

I always say that I feel like the luckiest man alive. I mean, I write songs and I sing them for people.I tell stories. I share what's on my mind and in my heart and I make a living doing it. I write music that goes like this an music that goes like that. Rock, folk, blues.... I don't know... whatever pops out next. It's a unique life, a very extraordinary life. Some people might think I'm crazy because I live out loud. I'm passionate about... um... everything. I laugh a lot more than I don't. I live on instinct, intuition and inspiration. I love trying new, audacious things and actually dig the occasional failure. So some people think I'm crazy. But I can honestly say...

I think I might be one of the sanest men I know.

My circle of friends are amazing people and the Creative circle of artists in my Life is beyond words.

NOW... before we get to the new theatrical project, I want to say again... if you wanna help the people of Japan you might wanna do what I like to do.

I mean, Japan is one of the richest countries in the world and the idea of sending technical experts to a nation of technical experts is kind of redundant. But there is an organization with which I've always been extremely impressed -- DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS.

Click to give

These physicians always show up all around the world, getting direct help on the ground, right there with their nose in it, helping ordinary people who need real help.

Okay... making the world even a slightly better place.

I know, I know. It's tough to make a transition to Life closer to home. But life goes on all around the planet.

Maybe it's time we pull off a project like this.

.

First up, I wanna welcome everyone who's checking in from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. Here in New York City, me and a circle of friends and artists are kickin' around an idea for a theater piece that many think oughta try to find it's way to Broadway. Maybe it'll be better served as a looser, smaller off-Broadway gig.

We'll see.

Once again, here's the video from Academy Award-winner Tony Walton and his wife.

SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?

You are everything. Just like on "The Hill" in Central Park, none of this happens if you don't show up. The 3 most important things we need from you...

1. A generous donation of real money. (Yeah, like everything else... it's gonna take money to actually make it happen.)

2. Your suggestions about what you'd like to see in the show... which songs move you, which make you laugh, which songs and stories you think a Broadway audience will get the most out of and enjoy the most.

3. We need you to take it upon yourself to be a little Paul Revere-ish... take it upon yourself to spread the word about this project every day to friends and family. Make it your own. We need you to come up with Creative ideas to get the word out about this effort.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
