I'm gonna get to the NEW theater project in a minute.

We really do live in a pinball machine of information and events. It gets to feel a little overwhelming at times. Maybe that's just one more reason for a show like the one we're talking about. (A little further down the page.)

I hafta take a little break from the stuff about the new theater project, and get my pen and ink pad out to do a little cartoon of a man who is himself a cartoon.

Listen, you just hafta put this in the "YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS SHIT UP" file.

If you've been coming around here at all, you know that I'm not a Democrat or anything else... I'm fiercely independent. But you also know how strongly I feel about the blatant hypocrisy of the religious right-wing of this country and the fear-driven stupidity of the Republican Party in general.

But this is too bizarre to let pass without a new cartoon.

NEWT GINGRICH (another employee and contributor to FOX News)

This is great! Now listen. I'm a recovered alcoholic and addict. I'm a man who at one time in my life was spiritually and morally bankrupt. I own it all. And I've done my best to repair the damage and live every day clearly and honestly for the past 20 years.

But when I heard Newt Gingrich tell America the reason why he cheated on his wives, I had 3 choices... draw a cartoon, write a song, or vomit. (So I drew cartoon yesterday.) This man Gingrich is a man who famously dumped wife #1 for wife #2 while wife #1 was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery. As in... literally went to the hospital to present her with divorce papers while she was recovering from uterine cancer.

The same bankrupt individual who then dumped wife #2 for wife #3 shortly after wife #2 was diagnosed with MS in 1999. The same little shit who was having the affair on wife #2 with wife #3 while he was turning the country upside down trying to drive Bill Clinton from office over his high school-ish affair with Monica Lewinsky.

But now he's thinking about running to become the Republican nominee for president, and so this week we heard the explanation for his lack of character.

"There's no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate."

He cheated on his wives... for America!

Y'know? Sometimes you just love America so much that you need to go have some sex about it.

We've all been there.

THE VIDEO FOR THE SHOW!!!!

OKAY! So it just might be time for a show like this. I don't know. I'm guessing. We'll see.

But, I get the feeling that so many people are needing to sing a little and laugh a lot these days. It feels like a bunch of people feel a little bit overwhelmed by the pinball machine in which we live, and a little bit alone or just a little bit voiceless. So many people are angry. Many are afraid. Most just wanna have a good time. But most would like to be the best people they can be while they're having fun.

I don't know.... again... I'm guessing.

Maybe it's time to go ahead and make my best guess and get on stage with a little tribe of amazing artists in a room filled with fun people and see what happens.

Here -- please watch this video and help us out if you feel like this might be a good idea.

We're a little over one week out of the gate and we are already well on our way to reaching our goal to make something really cool happen.

HERE WATCH THE VIDEO!!!!

Here's an Academy Award-winner, an Emmy Award-winner, a man who's won several Tony Awards... and his lovely wife to explain!

Cool right? And at the IndieGoGo website you can see that a whole lotta people feel the same way right now.The numbers are rising and more an more people are becoming a part of this. It's a little deceiving. On the IndieGoGo website, it says that our total after the first week is over $4,000.

The actual number is over...

$7,500

...on our way to the $25,000 goal.

25,000 is still a long ways away. We really do need YOU to kick something in to be a part of this.

So, many cool people. So much enthusiasm about this idea. (Hell, after hangin' with all of you in Central Park for 20 years, I guess an idea like this was bound to come along.)

SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?

You are everything. Just like on "The Hill" in Central Park, none of this happens if you don't show up. The 3 most important things we need from you...

1. A generous donation of real money. (Yeah, like everything else... it's gonna take money to actually make it happen.)

2. Your suggestions about what you'd like to see in the show... which songs move you, which make you laugh, which songs and stories you think a Broadway audience will get the most out of and enjoy the most.

3. We need you to take it upon yourself to be a little Paul Revere-ish... take it upon yourself to spread the word about this project every day to friends and family. Make it your own. We need you to come up with Creative ideas to get the word out about this effort.

Your donations are tax-deductible!!! Whatever you decide to give! (So cool.)

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
