This is already an interesting week. There's a lot goin' on around here.
But there's also a lot going on around the other side of the planet. So once again, I'd like to just give anybody who's new around here a chance to send a little help to our friends in Japan. Like I said this week, Japan is a very wealthy country, and sending technical experts to a nation of technical experts seems redundant. But thousands and thousands of ordinary people are hurt and suffering, and this organization has always been one of my favorites to support.
Might be a way for you to help if you can or if you wanna.

These physicians always show up all around the world, getting direct help on the ground, right there with their nose in it, helping ordinary people who need real help.
Okay... on with the update.

Really jazzed about the way ideas are flowing these days. The thought of sharing music and laughs, stories and thoughts with a much larger audience is intriguing.
TODAY -- I'm heading downtown to scout a couple of theater locations for a series of workshop events. Now, here's my thinking. These won't be the actual workshop we're talking about. These will be smaller storytelling sessions with music to fly a few things past a live audience... to see what lands, what works and most importantly... what doesn't.
.
I'm thinkin' it would be best to do this in the theater district a few times in April. I'm hoping about only 50 people at a time would want to participate in these. It won't cost anyone a nickel to be a part of this. The sessions will be free. I'll just ask that you bring at least one person with you who has NEVER seen or heard me in the park or in concert.
Cool?
Again, this isn't the actual workshop. Just a series of little... I don't know what to actually call them. But I'm always thinking outside the box. Damn! My whole life is lived outside the damned box for years now. In fact... I'm not sure I could even find the box if I had to!
Hey! If you're brand new around here and you have NO idea what I'm talking about... you can always hit THE ARCHIVE and catch up with what's been going on around here.

HERE's the video from Academy Award-winner Tony Walton and his wife.
We're trying to put a theatrical piece together that, hopefully, will be a positive thing.

SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?
You are everything. Just like on "The Hill" in Central Park, none of this happens if you don't show up. The 3 most important things we need from you...
1. A generous donation of real money. (Yeah, like everything else... it's gonna take money to actually make it happen.)
2. Your suggestions about what you'd like to see in the show... which songs move you, which make you laugh, which songs and stories you think a Broadway audience will get the most out of and enjoy the most.
3. We need you to take it upon yourself to be a little Paul Revere-ish... take it upon yourself to spread the word about this project every day to friends and family. Make it your own. We need you to come up with Creative ideas to get the word out about this effort.

I'm really enjoying all of your comments about the newest songs, so keep 'em comin'! This was the LIVE debut of this next song in December here in NYC.
For you guys again today... the entire concert..."The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" is here for you to watch. Go make a pot of coffee. Pour yourself some tea or a nice glass of wine and sit back and watch this thing. Plug in some headphones or some earbuds if you feel like it. You can actually jump around and watch different parts o the show.
We had such a great time again this year in that theater!
(The audio got a little funky during Teresa Reynolds' Christmas song... but I'm do everything I can to fix that sooner than later. Check back.)

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
