Welcome to the website.

Wow. All very cool.

.

This is the beginning. Okay...

Tonight is Oscar night!

So tomorrow, I'm going to have an Academy Award-winner and his wife... right here at the website, launching my new project!!!

Hey guys -- I'm leaping into the unknown, counting on my friends and the belief of people I hardly know.

I really hope YOU will show up in a very real way. I know a lot of you are reading this in different parts of the country and different parts of the world. But most of you are in New York City or in the area. Let me ask you this.

Were you at the concert at Merkin Concert Hall in December? Have you ever been to one of those shows? Can you imagine if the show was tightened up just a little, was a little more specific with a little bit more storytelling? Can you imagine if it remained loose, fun and fluid but actually had an arc to it... a beginning middle and end? You can imagine that, right?

Now let me ask you this.

Question: What is the main difference is between doing a show like that in a concert hall near Lincoln Center and doing the same show in the Broadway Theater.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Answer: The address.

.

.

.

I'm serious. That's the main difference. The address. Oh sure, there's a difference in the amount of money it takes to put on the show. There is a big difference in the audience who will get to see the show. (Merkin Hall only seats 500.)

But if you were with us in Merkin Hall this past December and you got to experience the fun we have... the music, the stories, the laughs, the amazingly wonderful artists who share the stage with me... all of it... you get why, although it will take the help of all of you, the idea of getting this gig to a Broadway stage just feels like the next thing to do.

It's gonna need you to show up. It's gonna need a Creative circle of good people to get behind the idea in a very real way. And then... whoa! What a kick!!! What a cool thing to be a part of!

Now y'see, the friends who convinced me that this is the thing to do... well... I mean, we've been at this a long time. All of them are pros. Some of the most enthusiastic people behind this project have the "hardware" to prove it. Oscars and Emmy and Tony Awards -- real pros with real cred who are so excited by the idea that a project like this can be done with a genuinely grassroots effort to get it started. Men and women who've been in the business their whole lives have convinced me it's time to do this. (Okay, after 20 years of sharing music and laughs with all of you as "That Guitar Man from Central Park"... yeah, it's time.)

SO STOP BACK TONIGHT OR TOMORROW MORNING TO WATCH THE VIDEO! And tell your friends!!! And pass the link on to as many people as you can. and start thinking of ideas and suggestions for this project.

Then, check back for the launch of the website that will make this all happen.

Okay?

.

.

Okay, listen... I gotta get ready for tomorrow!!!!

NOW A LITTLE FURTHER DOWN THE PAGE ARE SOME FUN VIDEO MOMENTS FROM PAST SHOWS. But I'd really like to know what songs and stories YOU think you'd like to see become a part of a complete show.

For you guys again today... the entire concert... "The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" is here for you to watch. Go make a pot of coffee. Pour yourself some tea or a nice glass of wine and sit back and watch this thing. Plug in some headphones or some earbuds if you feel like it. You can actually jump around and watch different parts o the show.

We had such a great time again this year in that theater!

(The audio got a little funky during Teresa Reynolds' Christmas song... but I'm do everything I can to fix that sooner than later. Check back.)

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
