.

Welcome to the website. I know a lot of you are checking in here from NYC, and some of you are reading this in different parts of the country. But many of you are in different parts of the world. So this might not be so much for you guys on the other side of an ocean as it is for American citizens.

.

This is gonna be a little bit off a strangely disjointed update today. Y'see... I've got a brand new fun video for you further down the page. But I've start out on a very different note.

Well that's Life. Y'see, I promised yesterday that I would have something to say about the shootings in Arizona. But honestly, the way I feel this morning? My human imperfections are right on the surface. I'm pissed off, fed up, sick and tired. So I probably won't be able to add something as positive or constructive to the discussion as I would normally like right now.

So what I'm going to do is this -- I'm going to hold off elaborating about the shooting in Tucson, Arizona... except to say that I'm remembering ALL of the victims of this gun-carrying, mentally ill person.

And I'm feeling good that the prognosis for the congress-woman seems to be looking better and better.

Still...

As pissed off as I am, I need to add this. I know some people will be connecting people like Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck and their stupid, stupid, stupid rhetoric to this kind of thing. And while, yes... these 2 people are shallow, self-serving, ignorant, shamelessly-hypocritical and facile, they always pull-up just short and can't be blamed directly for this kind of violence. They are simply self-serving, small-minded idiots. Dangerous? Well, to the degree we allow them to be. But ultimately it's only because they are tiny, little people who aren't adult enough to realize that their words are not only landing on sane people who listen to them because they are fearful and angry... but also on the "loosely-wrapped" who don't need much to unhinge them completely. (And Beck is really nothing more than a snake-oil salesman.)

Still, I must say out loud and up front that when something called the "Tea Party Movement" can throw support and lots and lots of real money pundits like Palin and candidates like Sharon Angle in that state of Arizona... Angle who said during her campaign:

"You know, our Founding Fathers, they put that Second Amendment in there for a good reason and that was for the people to protect themselves against a tyrannical government. And in fact, Thomas Jefferson said it's good for a country to have a revolution every 20 years. I hope that's not where we're going, but, you know, if this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies and saying, 'my goodness what can we do to turn this country around?' I'll tell you the first thing we need to do is take Harry Reid out."

~Sharon Angle

...then a certain amount of ancillary responsibility cannot be denied among reasonable, thinking adults. If these are the candidates and pundits who Right Wing Republicans are embracing, then it's time to throw a net over the whole lot of them or just admit that irrational fear has caused them all to lose their minds. (And most of them call themselves "Christians". It's f*cking laughable.) Again... I'm not a Democrat. I find almost nothing to cheer about on the Democratic side of the aisle these days. Nearly nothing. I'm a Registered Independent and have been my whole life. And as an artist and a man... some things need to be said.

Hopefully I'll continue to do it in my work.

.

Moving on for now.

Like I said, believe it or not I have a really, really fun new music video here for you today. (Further down the page.) But we'll start of with this song for anyone who is new around here.

I hope the message in this song is clear. I tried my best to write a carefully constructed lyric for this one. I hope it adds something today.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
