Just a quick thought and then on to today's update.
Calling this one "Gimme a break!" for 2 reasons. First...
If you want to know how sincere Sarah Palin is when she defends her over-the-top, thinly-veiled violent rhetoric aimed at the fearful and angry... just look into her eyes.
No. Seriously.
Look into her eyes.
People were wondering about her uncharacteristic silence in the wake of the shootings in Arizona this week. Well, today she released a carefully worded, carefully constructed 8-minute statement which she must have been rehearsing and rehearsing and rehearsing and rehearsing for the last 3 days up there in Alaska. (Therefore the 3-day silence.) Now the video is everywhere. Some speech writer even eloquently wrote that people like me guilty of something called "blood-libel".
Why she would use that term?
Gotta be more ignorance on her part and on the part of her speech writer. Or... just more thinly-veiled pandering to Right-wing Christian nutjobs!
Seriously. "Blood Libel" may have originated in the 12th century from Christian views of Jewish behavior during the First Crusade. It is a term that was used to describe the insane belief that Jews coveted the blood of non-Jewish children to bake into their motzah and in other religious sacrificial rituals. She's an idiot.
Y'wanna know how sincere she is?
Look into her eyes.
Those two distracting squares in her glasses is the teleprompter as she reads a speech that someone else wrote for her. How do we know that someone else wrote her heartfelt words for her? To paraphrase Aaron Sorkin, this woman has shown the world again and again that left on her own, she can't find a coherent sentence with two hands and a flashlight.
It's funny. I don't know if I'm more disgusted with her, or with the lighting designer on the shoot!
(Nope. Never mind. Ha! I know. It's her. Sarah Palin and people like her disgust me.)
No... we only got about 9 inches. Not really all that spectacular. Just really, really pretty in Central Park.

And now... a word from our sponsor.

Okay! I spent way too much time on that. I'm a very silly man. But sometimes when I have a passing thought like, "How ridiculous is that Cadillac commercial where archers seem to be shooting at the car!" I just have to follow it up.
Okay, okay. It took me half a day to produce the commercial parody. But... um... it's part of what I do.
Something else that is part of what I do has been apparent to me all week. Denying this part of my job goes against my grain. As someone who knows me and loves me said the other day, speaking out and singing out with social conscience is not only what I do... she said, "David it IS you."
I've been writing on this site... overtime this week.
I watched Glenn Beck again last night. (Again, it's one of the more difficult and distasteful parts of my job.) I'm convinced there needs to be Reason, Love and sanity put into this Universe by as many of us as possible in whatever ways we can to counter the insanity flowing from people like that.
But right now I hafta get back to creating the next project. And I hafta pick the date to produce the next concert event to which you will all be invited. AND it's gonna be something different a and very, very cool I hope.
In the meantime... I know a lot of you stop by here every day from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. Chances are most of you hung out with me at least once here in New York City and this website is a way to keep you a little bit closer to The Big Apple all year.
The little kid in me still loves the snow in this town!

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
