Welcome to everyone who checks in here from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. And welcome to all of you fellow New Yawkahs!
GOT A LITTLE THING HERE TODAY ABOUT A POPULAR TV SHOW AND THAT PALIN GIRL! (No, not that one!)
AND... Jimmy Kimmel has declared this a day to "UnFriend" people who are not really your friends. (More about that further down the page.)
Kind of rainy and kind of warm around here the last 2 days. Hard to believe that "The Something'th Annual Year-End Concert" is less than a month away. I don't know if you guys remember from year-to-year, but very often the night of the show is colder than Rudoplh's ass in a headwind at 13,000 feet.
Always feels a long way from those warm, sunny days we share in Central Park all summer.

Let's start off with a look back at this season. ' Cause when we fill Merkin Concert Hall and fill it with music and that "It's Just Us" feeling, you can look around and see a lot of the same smiling faces you see around you all summer in Central Park. Here's a photo galleries from this season. This one exists largely because of the enthusiasm and camera work of publicist Laura Manske and others who send in photos. The 2010 gallery will continue to grow as we finish out the year "indoors".
(No matter where in the world you're reading this, if you've ever hung out with me you might find your smiling face in one of the galleries!!!)

But the feeling in the crowd is the same, even better... even warmer.
Even... funner!
(Yes. Funner is a word. Look it up.)
And this year is gonna be something special, I can feel it already. Me and the guys are just kickin' around some ideas for the songs we're gonna play that night and I can't wait.
.
.
BTW -- I just wrote a brand new song in which I'm referencing the fact that Bristol Palin is on "Dancing With the Stars". I'm sure we'll play it at the gig on December 11th.
Now I understand that in California especially, but also across the country, there is a little unrest among many fans of the show, Lots of people are upset that Bristol Palin is still in the running. (I have no opinion about that because I've never seen her on the show.) But the reason I had to put her in my song is simply this...
Um... we actually live in a country where Bristol Palin is somehow classified as... a star!?
By what measure, by what definition in anyone's mind, in what Universe is Bristol Palin... Ha!
A... star?
Maybe the show should be called:
"Dancing With Less-Than-Interesting People Whose Names You've Heard for No Particularly Noteworthy Reason".
.
Remember this "Dancing..." Photoshop I did of her mother?
And that's where the new song lives. Show up at the gig in December for the songs debut!!! Me and the kids in the band are gonna play it for the very first time in concert. Who knows... might wind up becoming another YouTube moment getting passed around by a half million people like the "Facebook Song" after the last indoor concert.
Speaking of that song.... yeah... Jimmy Kimmel started something that has kinda taken off around the world. Earlier this year, I debuted this song LIVE at The Thalia theater on Broadway here in town.

I'll probably hafta do at least some kind of version of this song at the gig in 3 weeks. And we'll be streaming that concert live as well.

But this might be a good weekend to start calling some friends, really making plans. Y'know? This thing happens in the second week of December, right around the time so many of you religious-types are celebrating holidays and stuff. It's the time of year when friends start thinking about getting together as one year ends and we turn another page on the calendar.
For me it's just a cool tradition and a chance to share a stage again with some of the most talented, sweetest, funniest artists in New York! So here's the number for the box office if you wanna call them directly to speak with Elizabeth.

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
