Doin' what I do for a living, there are so many things I get a real kick out of.
I love singin' the songs I write for people from all across the country and around the world in Central Park every year.

I love "possibility".
I love all the possibilities that Life brings in nearly every moment of every day... but also the process of writing new songs and coming up with new ideas for projects -- new "possibilities".
I love getting into the studio with fucking amazing people with amazing talent and open hearts to actually create the music... working hard but laughing just as hard.
I love the rehearsal process, and watching these people bring so much of themselves to the party.
I love getting these artist all together to do this stuff LIVE in a fantastic venue here in New York.
But once in a while, when I'm just putting a lyric together, before the words are all written or "frozen" as I call it, before the thing is "in the can"... I love sharing a work in progress with you guys right here at the website!
Look, I'm a whole lot more rock 'n roll than country.... but I HAD to write this thing as a country song.
Inspired by some of your comments about Bristol Palin on "Dancing with the Stars" and some of the email I've received about shows like "Jersey Shore" and others... this is where we are so far.

It won't be long before the lyric is frozen and sounding the way it wants to sound. So I'm sure we'll be doing this thing LIVE at Merkin Concert Hall along with many of your favorites. It's gonna be cool to hear an entire venue singin' this new "anthem"!
Listen, I know there are people who check in here every day from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. But if you're gonna be anywhere near the New York City area on December 11th, try to grab tickets as soon as you can for...

"The Something'th Annual Year End Concert"
.
Y'know?
Because Jimmy Kimmel did his thing this past week... turning Wednesday into "UnFriend Day" on Facebook, it gave a new push to the song that started rocketing around the world this summer. I'm thinkin' that a half million people will watch this silly video before the year is over.
I'll probably have to do some kinda version of this song at the gig in December.
If you haven't seen it yet, click to watch.

BUT!
Another cool thing about these "Year End Concerts" is that when we fill Merkin Concert Hall with music and that "It's Just Us" feeling, you can look around and see a lot of the same smiling faces you see around you all summer in Central Park. Here's a photo galleries from this season. This one exists largely because of the enthusiasm and camera work of publicist Laura Manske and others who send in photos. The 2010 gallery will continue to grow as we finish out the year "indoors".
(No matter where in the world you're reading this, if you've ever hung out with me you might find your smiling face in one of the galleries!!!)

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
