Yeah, last week I played a really great little gig downtown with Cassandra Kubinski, then sat in at The Sidewalk Cafe in the East Village on Saturday night, then was one of the guest artists at a CD release brunch on the Upper Westside with a VERY cool mix of people.
The brunch was for the release of a project from the inimitable Christine Lavin. She asked me to be part of a compilation album for the holidays called "Just One Angel".
And through all of it, all that went on last week, on a personal level there was something kinda strange and... well, let's just say... I was given another incredible opportunity for personal growth -- and we'll leave it at that. But today... it feels very good to be me and to be living the Life I'm lucky enough to be living. (I hope we all get to feel that way most of the time in our lives.)
Now nearly every day here at the site like to welcome all of you in different parts of the country and different parts of the world. And I like to remind everyone here in New York City that we're getting ever closer to "The Something'th Annual Year End Concert".
This time of year gets very busy for me and very exciting. Gonna start emailing MP3s of some songs we might do to all the artists who will be sharing the stage with me on December 11th. I can't wait to get into the rehearsal studio to start kicking this stuff around.
By the way, just as a little inside tidbit -- when I book studio time for this bunch, if I calculate it will take us 3 hours to work on the songs for that day... I always book 4 hours. I hafta leave an extra hour for us to laugh and tell stories in between. For me as an artist, that's a really important part of the process and it's how we all wind up having such a genuinely GOOD TIME on stage.

Y'know?
When we fill Merkin Concert Hall and fill it with music and that "It's Just Us" feeling, you can look around and see a lot of the same smiling faces you see around you all summer in Central Park. And on stage... we just have more fun than I think you're allowed to have in several states.

I'll be back tomorrow with another update. If you're new around here or if you're gonna be in town on December 11th I really hope I see you and some friends at Merkin Concert Hall. You might wanna go back and browse The Archive to see what goes on around here.
Listen, I also wanna welcome everyone checking in from a different part of the country or a different part of the world, and any newcomers who might be showing up here for the first time. Here in New York City we just finished up another typically amazing "outdoor" season of music in both Central Park and down on Pier 45 in The Village. You can click on these banners to check out a whole bunch of photos from both gigs all year.... and the year before.
(No matter where in the world you're reading this, if you've ever hung out with me you might find your smiling face in one of the galleries!!!)

Like I said, there are also some fun videos making their way around the country and around the world. Here's one about the upcoming final installments of the Harry Potter series of movies. It's a song about the character, Hermione Granger.

Now, that other song about "Facebook... Idiot" is still rocketing around the world. As of today, over a quarter of a million people all around the planet are passing it around. (Must struck a chord inside a few people.)

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
