All that is needed for bad people to do evil is for the many good people to remain silent.

Yeah, I have a big concert coming up in 4 weeks and I dedicated an entire update yesterday to something I felt very strongly about. Now, some people have emailed me suggesting that I might be alienating some of the audience that might potentially buy tickets to my concert. "Bad business" they say.

Sorry.

Some things have to be said and someone has to say them, regardless of the consequences. Sometimes people need to speak up even if they think it will make no difference... or little difference. Besides -- I can ask the rest of you to bring ONE more friend to the concert this year... and... uh... YEP! That oughta just about make up for it, right!?

YES!!!!

If you're reading this and you agree with what I wrote yesterday, then we'll have a great time at the concert, laughing and singing with clear conscience. Because... well, if you agree with what I wrote yesterday, it means you actually have a conscience!!! It's more fun when you're in a room filled with caring, loving, thoughtful... good people.

Hey, I have no illusions of grandeur. I know I'm just an independent songwriter with one voice. Yesterday's update won't change the world. Maybe yesterday's update makes no difference to the world at all. But it makes a difference to me... as long as I try.

So yeah... bring a few friends to the concert in 4 weeks!!!! ROCK ON!!!!

On with the update! Here we are inside another weekend, and I promised I'd bring you some video from the Barnes & Noble gig I did with Christine Lavin and some of the fellow artists who are appearing on Chris's CD collection called "Just One Angel". So I'll get to that in a minute.

Y'know?

When we fill Merkin Concert Hall and fill it with music and that "It's Just Us" feeling, you can look around and see a lot of the same smiling faces you see around you all summer in Central Park. And on stage... we just have more fun than I think you're allowed to have in several states.

Now nearly every day here at the site like to welcome all of you in different parts of the country and different parts of the world. And I like to remind everyone here in New York City that we're getting ever closer to kicking another year in the ass as it heads out the door. This time of year gets very busy for me and very exciting. I can't wait to get into the rehearsal studio to start working with the gang again.

By the way, just as a little inside tidbit -- when I book studio time for this bunch, if I calculate it will take us 3 hours to work on the songs for that day... I always book 4 hours. I hafta leave an extra hour for us to laugh and tell stories in between. For me as an artist, that's a really important part of the process and it's how we all wind up having such a genuinely GOOD TIME on stage.
