Welcome to the website.

No update yesterday because I was busy RE-recording a demo for the guys in the band. (We're gonna start getting together soon for the December concert and I have a lot of cool things to do with them this year!)

ALSO HAVE SOME NEW VIDEO HERE TODAY.

As always, I wanna say "Hey" to all of you in different parts of the country and different parts of the world. Got a lot goin' on these days. Got the concert comin' up in a little less than 4 weeks. That means this year is rapidly heading for the door. Starting to feel like it's been too long since I hung out with you guys in Central Park.

Here in New York City it's kind of an autumnal day... which is probably a good thing because it's autumn.

Last week I was part of a really fun line-up of artists who are appearing on a new compilation album from songwriter.producer Christine Lavin. I'll set up a link to all of the video from that gig in a few weeks. It was really very cool to be a part of it. I played a solo acoustic version of a song that I'll be doing at Merkin Concert Hall in a few weeks. It's one of those tracks that everybody in the room sings. Felt good to air it out in front of a live audience before I play it with the band at the "The Something'th Annual Year-End Concert"

Before I get to the video, I might as well tell any newcomers how they can get tickets for the big concert right here... TODAY!

Seriously... don't get sold outta this one! You can order tickets online right now...

....or you can call the box office directly all week. They're open today.

Y'know?

When we fill Merkin Concert Hall and fill it with music and that "It's Just Us" feeling, you can look around and see a lot of the same smiling faces you see around you all summer in Central Park. And on stage... we just have more fun than I think you're allowed to have in several states.

Okay... that new video from the CD release gig -- Barnes & Noble at Lincoln Center in New York City. I was asked to contribute a song to a compilation album that included artists you know and some you might not suspect of being singer/songwriters... Christine Lavin, Janis Ian, Kate Taylor (James's sister), actors Jeff Daniels and David Rasche, Julie Gold among others.

The album is called "Just One Angel". It's a kind of holiday, New Year's, Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanza, Solstice... um... music... kinda thang.

Chris was nice enough to ask me to do 2 songs... one from the album and this one. I did an "unplugged version of "Next Time Around" and got a lot of help from the crowd at the event.

I'll be back with more video from that night. Some people played some really beautiful songs and some were pee-in-your-pants funny.

Very cool.

BTW -- some of you might stop reading right about this point in the update everyday!

(I don't blame you.)

but there are always new people showing up here and a lot of them don't go right to the ARCHIVE to check out some of the cool stuff that's been goin' on here over the year's. and some people have no idea what the "Year End" concerts are about. And when I tell people how much fun they are, I think the video might help. I mean... they're not your typical "concert".

Here are a few moments from last year's concert!

Okay, before we leave... let's take a look back at this season. ' Cause when we fill Merkin Concert Hall and fill it with music and that "It's Just Us" feeling, you can look around and see a lot of the same smiling faces you see around you all summer in Central Park. Here's a photo galleries from this season. This one exists largely because of the enthusiasm and camera work of publicist Laura Manske and others who send in photos. The 2010 gallery will continue to grow as we finish out the year "indoors".

(No matter where in the world you're reading this, if you've ever hung out with me you might find your smiling face in one of the galleries!!!)

.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
