If you're in another part of the world, I hope you just enjoy every moment today. If you're here in the U.S., I hope this is a great weekend for you. If you're here in NYC but you're heading out of town today.... just put it on "cruise-control" and relax. (One more cool person in the line makes everything so much better. Be the cool one today.)
Hey guys! Even if next summer becomes the last year I get to do it, I'm grateful all the time for 19 years being "That Guitar Man from Central Park".
.
.
Yeah, today is another "Get-Outta-Town-Day"!
.
Looking forward to tomorrow. But I love being one of the people who stays in town today. I'm just gonna do a little work for the concert on December 11 and chill.
And y'know? A year ago I never would have guessed that I'd still hafta fear for the safety of my pal Bullwinkle Moose on Central Park West tomorrow. I mean, I'm not sure I would have believed America would be dumb enough to allow this awful woman to be hangin' around! I would have hoped she's have faded into memory by now. But after her daughter got voted off what has become an inane dancing show... I'm afraid she might be pissed!
Hope Sarah Palin is nowhere near New York
But Palin's got a new TV series on TLC, a new book, a contract with FOX.
And we live in a country that actually classifies her less-than-interesting daughter a "star" for no apparent reason!
Got a BRAND NEW SONG that's kind of about that ~

I'm sure we'll play it at the gig on December 11th!!! (You can get tickets here today, further down the page.)
But for tomorrow, it's all about Gratitude for the Good people in my life... and food, and football, and family, and friends, and traditions like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Even though when you watch it on television now, it's really not very parade-like. I mean, years ago it was like watching a parade with an occasional musical number by some celebrity as they were rolling by. Now, it feels like one lip-synched promo for a Broadway Show, some pop-singer or some new TV series after another... all lined up like a big string of really poorly done commercials.
It's still fun, though because THEN... of course I always like to make the choice for the year's WTF moment of the parade.
Like 2 years ago!!! (This is still my favorite.)
This was the "What the F*ck!" moment of all time.
The cartoon network had a float for a new children's series about imaginary friends. So naturally, they use the parade as a big-ass commercial. But as a musical surprise, they began singing the theme song from an old, old, old TV show called "The Courtship of Eddie's Father". And then, out of nowhere...
Flash back to 1987?
...WTF!?
I would LOVE to meet the person who's mind put that together and ask how the process for that choice unfolded.
Okay listen, I'll be back tomorrow with a special, traditional, musical "Thanksgiving Update". But for today, if you haven't called your friends and talked them into joining you at the concert in a few weeks... GET ON THE PHONE!
Then tell them to come here and grab tickets sooner than later.
"The Something'th Annual Year End Concert"
...is just a little over 2 weeks from now!
.
You can still order tickets online right now to make sure you get the best seats.
Click on this banner to grab your tickets right now!
.
So if you don't grab tickets online today, maybe you can make today a day to call a few friends, round them up, make plans to make a night of it.
The box office will be open today and this weekend except Saturday.

Um, one more time -- HERE ARE A FEW FUN GALLERIES. Let's take a look back at this year's "outdoor" season. ' Cause when we fill Merkin Concert Hall and fill it with music and that "It's Just Us" feeling, you can look around and see a lot of the same smiling faces you see around you all summer in Central Park. Here's a photo galleries from this season. This one exists largely because of the enthusiasm and camera work of publicist Laura Manske and others who send in photos. The 2010 gallery will continue to grow as we finish out the year "indoors".
(No matter where in the world you're reading this, if you've ever hung out with me you might find your smiling face in one of the galleries!!!)

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
